There were some notable victories in Week 3 of the season, perhaps none bigger than Liberty North heading down to Raymore-Peculiar and beating the defending Class 6 championships rather handily, 42-14. The Eagles are now 2-1 on the year and won two straight against ranked Class 6 foes.
Here’s a look at some of the top performers from the area last Friday.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103076" first="Luke" last="Seib"], 6-5, 220, TE, Blue Springs South, Class of 2022</strong>
He provided some early highlights for the Jaguars by grabbing 10 catches for 86 yards and scoring a first-quarter touchdown in an eventual 45-21 loss to Park Hill. The day after the game, he was in Manhattan for the K-State football game. That is where his dad, Brad, was also a tight end under legendary coach Bill Snyder.

The first-year signal caller continues to get better each game. He helped his Trojans rally from a 18-point deficit to pick up a 24-point victory. He threw for 201 yards and added 44 yards and two scores on the ground. Of the 13 passes he completed, eight went to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="172295" first="PJ" last="Caldwell"]</strong>, who had 125 yards receiving.

The do-it-all standout for the Warriors found the end zone on the ground and air in a 48-0 blowout win over Cameron. Sharp ran for 62 yards on nine carries and two TDs and added three catches for 75 yards and two more TDs to help the Class 3 No. 5-ranked Warriors move to 3-0.

The Olathe (Kan.) Northwest transfer put up a banner night for the Hornets, which upset Class 5 No. 6-ranked Fort Osage, 28-13. Torres had 9 1/2 tackles, 3 1/2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss. Teammate <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="99473" first="Edric" last="Hill"]</strong> had five tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and 2 1/2 tackles for loss. It was a tough night for the Fort Osage offense as quarterback <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="181613" first="Greg" last="Menne"]</strong> finished with 22 carries for -58 yards.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="103404" first="Briggs" last="Bartosh"], 5-11, 175, RB/QB, Park Hill South, Class of 2023</strong>
Another game and another 100-yard game on the ground for Bartosh. He ran 16 times for 189 yards and a score as the No. 9-ranked team in Class 6 beat Grain Valley on the road. Bartosh is averaging 12.3 yards per carry this season and is just under 500 yards in three games. A hat tip goes to teammate <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="96818" first="Mudia" last="Reuben"]</strong>, who had six catches for 128 yards and 1 TD.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="202828" first="Easton" last="Roe"], 5-10, 175, QB, Pleasant Hill, Class of 2023</strong>
The left-handed tossing QB completed 29 of 41 passes for 332 yards and four touchdowns to help the Roosters upset state-ranked Harrisonville. His top target was <strong>Mason Hicks</strong>, who hauled in 12 catches for 121 yards and three scores. Roe leads the Kansas City metro area with 268 yards per game average through the air.

In only his second start for the Griffins, Sontag helped engineer a 29-point fourth quarter that ended with a 35-33 win over Van Horn. Sontag ran for a 39-yard touchdown to start the scoring in the fourth quarter. He later added a 70-yard TD pass to Iowa State commit <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="96167" first="Jason" last="Essex"]</strong> and found <strong>Michael Lane</strong> for a 54-yard score that tied the game. He finished with 262 yards passing and three touchdowns and of his 18 completions, 13 went to Essex, who had 185 yards.

The bookend tackles for the Broncos had a banner night in a win over Liberty. The offense ran for 296 yards on 47 carries and the rushing game accounted for three of the four touchdowns. When the team needed a key conversion, they ran behind either one of the stalwarts, going a combined 11 for 18 on third- and fourth-down conversions. Of the 23 first downs for Lee’s Summit North, 17 were on the ground.

The gunslinger didn’t throw much, completing 10 of 13 passes, but accounted for two first-half touchdowns that helped Liberty North jump ahead to a big lead against the defending Class 6 champions Ray-Pec on the road. He threw for 264 yards and ran for a touchdown in the second half to help further expand the lead.
