Broward County had a dozen alone. If you put Broward as a state, it would be sixth in the country! That is truly amazing and a testament to the football talent we have here.
With that being said, I would like to give my take on some prospects in the area based on video evaluations I have watched….part 2.0. You can click here to view part one.
Dawson Alters – St. Thomas Aquinas
What qualities do you want in a center prospect? Look no further than 6-foot-2, 270-pound Dawson Alters. He is a technician in his craft on the offensive line. The former U-School/TRU Prep Academy prospect has put on weight over the years while increasing his quickness. An AP student with a high GPA (5.4 weighted/3.944 unweighted), Alters will recognize his blocking assignment and adjust to variations of defensive formations quickly. He can also play some guard and knows how to long snap. That shows me he studies the game and is versatile. He is rated as the 10th best 2022 center in the country by ESPN. Alters holds offers from Columbia, Harvard, Penn, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Miami.
Darius Thomas – Miramar
2022 Darius Thomas is a safety prospect for the Patriots. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Thomas can do a lot of things on the defensive side of the football. He’s very good at reading a quarterbacks eyes and closing on the football when its in the air. This will often result in a pass breakup or interception. I really like his range of motion, especially against the run. He will come up and make a tackle or run down a player sideline-to-sideline. Thomas can excel as a “striker”. He recorded 22 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery across five games as a junior (Covid-19 shortened). The 3-star prospect holds offers from FIU, FAU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Toledo, South Dakota and Miami.
Antonio Robinson – Florida Christian
2023 Antonio Robinson is an athlete on the football field. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound listed cornerback also gets snaps at running back, quarterback, and wide receiver. Robinson is also a weapon on special teams. Through three games, Robinson has 10 carries for 129 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he has 13 tackles and five tackles for loss. He has averaged 18.8 yards per return off five punts. He’s a playmaker pure and simple. The 4-star prospect holds offers from Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, FIU, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Marshall, Memphis, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, UAB, Virginia Tech, Tuskegee, West Virginia, Virginia, UAB and UCF.
Lamont Green Jr. – Gulliver Prep
2023 Lamont Green Jr. is an explosive defensive end for Gulliver Prep. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Green has great anticipation and feel off the line of scrimmage. In addition, his length and bend gives him an edge against pass blockers. Green has plenty of strength and some to support his frame. His overall athleticism allows him to be effective against the run, including downfield. He played his 2019 season at Miami Southwest where he recorded 80 tackles and five sacks. His father, Lamont Green Sr., played at Florida State. He committed to the Noles back in February.
Mark Fletcher Mark Fletcher 6'1" | 225 lbs | RB Plantation American Heritage | 2023 State FL – American Heritage
2023 Mark Fletcher Mark Fletcher 6'1" | 225 lbs | RB Plantation American Heritage | 2023 State FL has an impressive frame for his age. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound running back averaged seven yards per carry and eclipsed 100 or more yards in nine of 13 games as a sophomore. He is tough to bring down one-on-one and will break multiple tackles. An overall physical and bruising player at first contact and beyond. Therefore, Fletcher is highly valuable in short yardage situations and near the goal line. Moreover, he has upside as a blocker given his size. Fletcher could improve his top end speed and overall burst. Still, he is one of the best offensive players in the state. Through three games this season, Fletcher has carried the ball 40 times for 225 yards and two touchdowns. He has also caught nine balls for 135 yards. Fletcher holds offers from Alabama, Miami, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, FIU, Florida, South Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Southern Miss, Toledo, Tennessee, UAB, UCF, West Virginia and USF.
