Game Report: Rush City at Mille Lacs
ISLE, MN– We made the trip to cabin country, to get our first ever eyes on the Mille Lacs Raiders. For those that don’t know the Mille Lacs Raiders are a brand new co-op this year with the schools of Onamia and Isle combined. Both programs were 9-man programs up until this year but with joining forces, have climbed up to 1A football.
Although the outcome of the game wasn’t too close, it was great to see so much talent between two programs that are pretty untapped when it comes to known prospects for us with Prep Redzone Minnesota. We will start with recapping what we watched during the game, and then will dive into individual performances in our next article which will outline the Big Dogs of the Game from the battle between the Rush City Tigers and the Mille Lacs Raiders.
SCORING:
1st Quarter
Rush City: Tigers running back Ty Stepp (2022) started the rout when he sprinted 41 yards for the Tiger’s first touchdown of the night. The Tigers went for two and got it. Rush City 8, Mille Lacs 0.
Rush City: We then saw junior running back Shaun Archambault (2023) scoot for a 26-yard rushing touchdown to get the Tigers their second touchdown of the quarter. They again went for two, and got it for the second time in a row. Rush City 16, Mille Lacs 0.
Rush City: We introduce you to another Tigers running back by the name of Lucas McFee (2022) who took it the distance for a 69-yard rushing touchdown. The Tigers were stopped just short on their 3rd two-point conversion in the 1st quarter. Rush City 22, Mille Lacs. End of the 1st quarter.
2nd Quarter
Rush City: Lucas McFee was even close to done finding the end zone against the Raiders, as he poked in a 10-yard rushing touchdown to start the second quarter for the Tigers. Rush City 30, Mille Lacs 0.
Rush City: The same can be said for Shaun Archambault as he scooted for his second touchdown of the night against into the second quarter. Two-point conversion was good. Rush City 38, Mille Lacs 0.
Mille Lacs: The Raiders finally got on the scoreboard with one of the only passing touchdowns we would see on the night when quarterback Daniel Miller (2022) found the athletic wide receiver AJ Drift (2022) for a 37-yard touchdown. The Raiders would fall short on converting the 2 point conversion. Rush City 38, Mille Lacs 6.
Rush City: On the next kickoff, we saw the speed and stamina of Shaun Archambault yet again who traveled from one side of the field to the other to take it 99 yards (the longest KO return I have watched in person) for another Tigers score to take them into halftime. The Tigers were a whooping 5/6 on two-point conversations in the first half. Rush City 46, Mille Lacs 6. Halftime.
3rd Quarter
Rush City: The only touchdown I got on film was another touchdown by Rush City’s Ty Stepp who took it 75 yards for a touchdown. The Tigers yet again, cashed in on the two-point conversion. Rush City 54, Mille Lacs 6.
