Carter Dewberry – Shawnee Mission South, 6’1”, 200, RB
The Raiders’ offensive approach during the ’21 season should be getting Dewberry the ball early and often. This back has a collegiate level ready frame paired with a versatile skillset. He’s a bruising runner that can also get open coming out of the backfield and possesses the physicality necessary for pass protection. Dewberry can also make plays off the edge at either defensive end or outside linebacker. He’s a player that can help turn things around for the Raiders this year.
Casey Helm – Madison, 6’4”, 225, QB
The buzz surrounding Helm’s name has increased significantly heading into his senior year. The talented 8-Man product had a great 2020 campaign. Helm may not have thrown the ball a ton, but he was very efficient. He completed 71% of his passes going on to throw for over 1,200 yards with 23 touchdown passes and only three interceptions. His performance during his junior year didn’t go unnoticed either, as he’s picked up offers from Emporia State and Washburn. The Bulldogs should once again be serious contenders with Helm leading the way.
Andon Carpenter – Derby, 6’1”, 260, DL
The Panthers will lean on defensive prospects like Carpenter this year after graduating quite a few of their top defenders from last season. He heads into the ’21 season hungry for an All-State selection. During his junior campaign, Carpenter earned 2nd Team All-League honors after racking up 51 total tackles to go along with six sacks, one forced fumble and a safety. He’ll be a must-see prospect in the trenches this fall.
Dominique Herrig-Brittian – Piper, 5’10, 170, DB
Herrig-Brittian was the definition of an opportunist during the 2020 campaign. There were multiple times throughout last season that he put himself in the right position to pick off a tipped pass. After securing the pick, Dominique becomes a dangerous return man that has the afterburners to take it to the house. He showed that speed again this summer, posting an impressive 4.37 laser-timed 40. He’s arguably the fastest corner in this class, and he has good awareness to go along with his speed. Quarterbacks should be hesitant to throw his way this season.
