Celebration Football Changing Course

On the football field, the Storm had never been a threat, finishing 3-6 (2020), 4-6 (2019), 2-8 (2018), 1-9 (2017) and 3-7 (2016).
Posting that 13-36 record over the past five years was not what this school wanted. Enter Rich Pringle. A 2013 graduate of Texas A&M, Pringle coached several years in Texas before moving to Florida where he was defensive coordinator at Ocala Forest – and most recently – a huge part of the success that Lake Gibson (Lakeland) had. His defense was amazing for the Braves, recording six shutouts in a 12-2 season.
Since taking over as head coach, Pringle has indeed given this program something to build on.
No matter what camp, combine or 7-on-7 event that was going on, Celebration players and coaches were there providing the exposure – and that had been missing from this program.
That work in the off-season gave the football players a sense of what the Storm will be like – moving forward. Competing against the best and attending everything is a win/win – especially during Covid, where nothing is guaranteed.
If this program is to have success and compete for district titles, the commitment cannot end when the season does. Look at your championship-level teams and all are working year-round, and that is what Pringle and Celebration are doing.
With a convincing 55-22 win over Kissimmee Poinciana, the Storm gave this program something to be optimistic about.
With Lake Region coming up this Friday night in a game that is being moved up from Week 11, the road is still going to be a challenge – with Orlando Dr. Phillips, Orlando Olympia, Tohopekaliga, West Orange, Windermere and Kissimmee Osceola still on the schedule.
THE TALENT IS IN PLACE
With some very young prospects, the Storm also have a group of Class of 2022 seniors to provide the leadership and experience.
Among those seniors are Jeremiah Cirino (FS), Jesus Colmenares (OL), Dylan Davis (QB/WR), Logan Harrison (OT), Chip McCuiston (WR), Ted Michel (DE), Michael Nicasio (OC), Bruno Neira (OLB), Joshua Riddle (DL), Philip Rowe (WR), Ryan “Blake” Umstead (OL) and outside linebacker Matt Ward.
UNDERCLASS WILL BE NEEDED
In any growing program, the need for depth is essential. With some seniors and a number of underclassmen, here are Class of 2023 juniors who have the talent to make a major contribution. Prospects such as Brian Cui (DT), Griffin Davis (WR), Adrian Garcia (LB), Foster Searcy (DE), Jalen Parker (LT) and Oniel Senatus (RB/S) are solid.
So are Class of 2024 sophomores Lucas Morton-Carlson (DB), Jackson Parker (DE) and athlete Yavianni Rivera Starks. There is also 2025 athlete Xavier Norfleet (Athlete).
