This week we have another diverse group of games from all over the state of Nebraska from the city to the country. Old rivalries transcend Class A and Class B, and like every week each game will determine the fate of teams with a few losses. We inch closer and closer to the playoffs every team will fight harder and harder for their spot in the State Championship. Last week Yutan beat Lincoln Lutheran 30-13, Yutan’s Paul Kirchmann went 7/13 for 185 yards and 1TD. Yutan had 1 interception and 2 fumbles. Lincoln Lutheran had 262 total yards 147 passing and 115 rushing their defense had only 1 interception. In our next game Pierce lost to Boone Central 33-35 Pierce had 480 305 passing and 115 rushing but their 5 turnovers ruined them. Boone Central’s Alex Christo threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 124 yards and another touchdown. Our final game ended up being more of a blowout. Elkhorn South manhandled Papillion LaVista 45-14. Elkhorn South had a total of 543 yards 461 of those on the ground. Papillion’s [player_tooltip player_id="193819" first="Nick" last="Chanez"] had only 79 passing yards and one touchdown.
Kearny Catholic V.S. Broken Bow
Our first game is a tight and close game between two class C1 teams, Kearny Catholic comes in with two juggernauts on offense. QB [player_tooltip player_id="193774" first="Brett" last="Mahony"] who is 49/76 for 711 yards for 14 TDs, and [player_tooltip player_id="193777" first="Riley" last="Grieser"] who has 95 carries for 820 yards. They also have Jaden Seier who has 220 yards 2 TDs and has 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery. Their lead tackler Dylan More has 37 tackles 19 assists and 18 solos. Broken Bow does not have any posted specific stats for their players but their running backs can get the ball rolling with 1,259 rushing yards this season. Broken Bows Defense has held teams to only 72 points with their highest allowed was 28 against Ord. To win their rushing game needs to be on point and their defense needs to play its best. Kearny Catholic will need to score and keep scoring as much as they can. Offensive Standouts – [player_tooltip player_id="193777" first="Riley" last="Grieser"] 6’1 190lbs, Riley is a power back he has 95 carries for 820 yards and 4 touchdowns. He is not only a weapon for his offense he can be used in many ways which makes it so hard to defend against. Defensive Standouts – [player_tooltip player_id="193776" first="Dylan" last="Merz"], 6’5" 255 lbs, Dylan is a huge player standing tall he can get through the offensive line. He had 37 tackles showing he can make his way to the ball in any situation.
Aquinas V.S. Arch Bishop Bergan
Undefeated Aquinas takes on one loss Archbishop Bergan in Fremont. The Monarchs have a great lineup to help out With Micheal Andel a power running back and great tackler. He has 5 touchdowns with 50 carries along with 36 total tackles and 6 tackles for losses. They also have Riwbdt Truska with 25 tackles and 2 tackles for losses. This tough defense will have a challenge with the Knights. This is a great season for the Knights, They have been lead on both sides by two great players. Koa Mcintire is a QB who has gone 40/68 for only 75 yards and 12 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, However, he has rushed 327 rushing yards for 5 touchdowns. Their other great player is Jarret Boggs who has had 37 carries for 291 yards and 4 touchdowns. ON the defensive side he has 31 tackles, 9 tackles for losses, and 2 sacks. Offensive Standouts - [player_tooltip player_id="147831" first="Koa" last="McIntyre"] 6’0" 190lbs, Koa is a beast of a QB. He can throw he can score and he can especially run. He has 327 rushing yards for 5 touchdowns. His throwing game should not be thrown out either going 40/68 and having a total of 756 yards and 12 passing touchdowns. Defensive Standouts - Micheal Andel, Micheal has been great this year he has had 36 tackles and 6 tackles for losses/ His defensive skill is something this defense needs on their side. They will need his help to finish off and contain Aqunais from having any ground to stand on.
Gretna V.S. Skutt Catholic
The cross-class rivalry that has bounded these teams together is finally here. The Skutt Catholic Skyhawks will travel out to Gretna to play their bitter rivals in the Dragons. The Dragons have had a great season. Last week they demolished Bellevue East 77-0 they have built themselves up to more and more after every game. Zane Flores is 81/111 for 1006 yards 8 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. HE is dominant and on point with his throws. Mick Huger has used 57 times for 391 yards and 6 touchdowns. Mick is also defensive with 38 tackles. They also have Korver Demma who has 3sacks on the year and Blayke more with 2 Ints. Skutt has a great player in [player_tooltip player_id="147507" first="Caden" last="Becker"] 23/58 for 476 yards and 1 touchdown. Macoy Holtom has 37 rushes for 276 yards.on Defense, the Skyhawks have Jackson Chandler and his monster season having 52 tackles. An unstoppable offense will be an immovable defense. This game can prove two things, is Skutt good, and can they move on against a tough Class A team, and is Gretna as good as it seems? Offensive Standouts – Zane Flores 6’3 190lbs- Zane has had a stellar season with his ability to fit a ball right into the hands of his tight ends and wide receivers. Just his stat of 1006 yards. That’s the most yards I’ve seen in one season let alone 5 games and only 2 interceptions that are just amazing. Defensive Standouts – Jackson Chandler 6’0 200 lbs Jackson is a great MLB. He knows where to go to fill in the holes. his expertise will be needed to make sure the Dragons cannot establish a run game. Jackson is not afraid to help his fellow d backs out to get a sack either.
