The Winfield High School jamboree had a lot of talent showing out on the field. The Warriors stood their ground against the other three teams (St. Charles, Cuba, Orchard Farm) for almost two hours, and there were a few players that stood out. Here are the players that college scouts should look out for this fall. RB [player_tooltip player_id="179106" first="Draven" last="Ham"] Winfield c/o 23. Ham is the definition of an old school bruising running back. He runs extremely hard and bulldozes anybody in his way. The only direction Ham knows where to go is up field, and he never stops his feet after contact. Ham will be one of the running backs to watch this fall. WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id="179097" first="Jaden" last="Schmidt"] Cuba c/o 22. Schmitt is a great outside container on defense. He made numerous plays keeping the quarterback from scrambling on the outside and breaking up numerous out routes. He is also a great receiver as well, catching passes in traffic. Schmitt is one athlete that college coaches should keep an eye on. WR [player_tooltip player_id="179088" first="Austin" last="Carson"] Winfield c/o 22. Carson is a true athlete. He was able to make plays not only on offense, but on defense as well. Austin showed great speed on jet sweeps during the jamboree, and he gave a lot of defenders problems when lined up at wideout. Carson can make great catches in the air, and can out run defenders with his downhill speed. Carson needs to be recognized as one of the players to look out for this season. DL [player_tooltip player_id="179087" first="Thomas" last="Palmer"] St. Charles c/o 23. Paul is a defensive lineman that takes charge in the trenches. He has great size and is quick off the line. He knows how to clog holes in order to stop the run, and he’s a great pass rusher. Paul said that he is excited about this season and he can’t wait to see what the front line can do against other opponents. DB [player_tooltip player_id="179083" first="Donte" last="Lewis"] Orchard Farm c/o 22. Lewis is a shutdown corner. He has great technique, perfect footwork, and his ball skills are elite. Whenever the ball was thrown to Lewis’s way, the pass was either broken up or he intercepted it. Lewis is one of those corners that receivers do not want to man up against. He takes away the inside and sticks with the receiver the whole play.
