I thought the stats were wild back in Week One, but this senior group went out and outdid what was put on tape back in week one. State records were tied, athletes scored at insane rates, and several players were responsible for 6+ TDs in their Week Two performances. We are going to break it all down in this week’s Top Performers article as we kick off the week of recapping Week Two by looking at the senior class’s week two performances. Reminder, to be included in these articles you need to tag @MJ_NFLDraft or @PrepRedzoneWI to make sure we don’t miss it! Let’s dive in! [player_tooltip player_id="118437" first="Keegan" last="Ofstie"], LB- Baldwin- Woodville Stat Line: 6 Tackles, 1 INT, 1 FF Really like what Keegan’s film showed this week. It’s short film, but you get a look at how well he can navigate the trash that is in the box as he fills against the run. He made several plays where he was able to get through his gap untouched and then make the tackle. We also got to see the range on display as Keegan proved that he has the play speed to make plays for little to no gain from sideline to sideline. The 6’3" 185 lbs MLB finished his week of highlights by being in the right place at the right time to haul in an arrant pass for an INT. Keegan already has earned some D2 offers, but more schools need to take a look at the Baldwin- Woodville product. Keegan’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118496" first="Josh" last="Hodges"], DL- Nicolet Stat Line: 8 Total Tackles The 6’ 225 lbs senior DL has spent the majority of his time at the NT position on a very talented, and deep, Nicolet defensive line. Of course, Hodges doesn’t have the size to play that position at the next level, but he has been able to show off his traits while holding down the spot for his team. There is no doubt that Josh has the strength to play in the trenches at the next level. His highlight reel from the past two weeks shows him stopping down blocks in their tracks preventing the hole from opening up. Josh also does a good job of reading and reacting instead of flying up field and taking himself out of the play. There are plays where he gets left unblocked, comes to balance, finds the ball, and then adjusts with his lateral agility instead of chasing. Hodges received D3 interest this spring. I expect offers to start coming in if he continues his current level of play. Josh’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118354" first="Riley" last="Warzynski"], QB- Stevens Point Stat Line: 263 Passing Yards, 5 TDs, 37 Rushing Yards, 1 TD (All in one half) What a night for the Stevens Point signal caller! The game was called at halftime due to weather, but Warzynski was still able to lead Stevens Point up and down the field with his arm and legs drive after drive. The 6’2" 195 lbs QB has a talented arm. It has an impressive balance of accuracy and strength, and he got to let that shine this week as he consistently attacked down the field with success. So many of his highlight reel throws also showed us the touch he can put on the ball. Several of his attempts were down the seam where he had to get the ball over the reach of a trailing LB, or they were towards the sideline where he again had to get the ball over the defender, but not leading the receiver out of bounds. Riley did that both from the pocket in rhythm and outside of the pocket on the run. I highly recommend checking out Riley’s film. He’s been under the radar, and needs more looks. Riley’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118357" first="Noah" last="Barrett"], LB- Stratford Stat Line: 4 Total Tackles, 23 Yard FG to take the lead late in the 4th This was a big matchup for Barrett and Stratford as they faced a very talented Edgar team. Barrett and his defense stepped up to the challenge and held the Edgar offense to 8 points on the night. Noah added the field goal with about 4 minutes left in the game to take the lead as well as help shut down the Edgar offense. On defense, I was impressed with Noah’s ability to quickly diagnose plays. His read steps transitioned right into his attack without pause. Barrett also did a good job to flow with the movement of the line so he could still play his gap. His effort in pursuit also aided in a few of his tackles on film. Check him out! Noah’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118375" first="Bryce" last="Taylor"], DL- Menomonee Falls Stat Line: 6 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 3 QB Pressures This kid has very active hands that allow him to disengage with consistent success. The 6’ 250 DT has a 6’4" wingspan that allows him to create separation that you might not expect from his height measurements. This week’s film shines a spotlight on the hand usage right off the bat. His swim move and rip move pair perfectly with his light feet and lateral agility allowing him to quickly get to the heels of offensive linemen. Bryce isn’t just light on his feet in short areas either. He has the speed to effectively pursue down the line of scrimmage, and even from behind, and still be able to make the play. Taylor already holds three offers, and should have more coming based off his week two performance. Check it out here! Bryce’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118500" first="Allen" last="Torian"], DL- Living Word Stat Line: N/A In addition to his DL work, the 6’3" 215 lbs senior prospect has started seeing reps at WR. He was able to power his way to a score in week two after hauling in a quick slant. I still believe his next level future is on the DL, but his ability to win at WR at the varsity level gives a great glimpse into his athletic gifts. Just like last season when I watch Torian in the trenches, the first thing that jumps out is his initial get off at the snap. It always gives him the upper hand, but this year it seems to be accompanied by a noticeable more amount of strength. Last year, it was a lot of shooting through gaps. He still has that, but now he also drives linemen into the backfield off the initial get off before making the tackle. His offseason work is showing up on the field. Allen’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118464" first="Alexander" last="Perelshtein"], DL- Homestead Stat Line: N/A In possibly the biggest game of his career, Perelshtein stepped up to the plate and made several impact plays. As I watch through the film it jumps out how often he was able to effect the pocket, and get pressure on Arrowhead’s QB effecting the passing game a considerable amount. A major key to Alexander’s game can be traced back to his wrestling background. He understands leverage and uses that to win in one on one and double team situations. One play that really shows it off is at the :23 second mark of his tape. Perelshtein drives the right side of the Arrowhead line nearly into the QB’s lap. He also is a kid that instantly comes to mind when I think of high motor kids. I’ve seen it at camps, showcases, and in his film. If the whistle hasn’t blown then the 5’11" 250 lbs DT is working. [embed]https://twitter.com/aperelshtein5th/status/1432052321349951492[/embed] [player_tooltip player_id="118317" first="Joe" last="Ollman"], RB- Homestead Stat Line: 13 Carries, 70 Yards, 2 TD, 1 Reception, 3 Yards The well balanced running style of Ollman was one of Homestead’s biggest impacts on their way to an impressive 23-22 win over Arrowhead. His first score on tape highlighted his speed to get around the edge and down the sideline while making defenders’ pursuit angles look bad. The same thing happened on the final play as well. We also got a look into something we don’t usually see. That is the blocking ability of Joe. He has a couple higlights where he delivered big blocks and cleared the way for his fellow RBs. Another week, another solid performance for Wisconsin’s RB2 in the Class of 2022. Check him out. [embed]https://twitter.com/joeollman42/status/1432034572452106240[/embed] [player_tooltip player_id="182055" first="Cole" last="Berghorn"], RB/LB- Badger Stat Line: 32 Carries, 195 Yards, 3 TDs, 1 Reception, 18 Yards I don’t know if there is a player who has gotten me fired up more from just watching his play style than Berghorn. I watched him live in week one, and his week two film gives us more of the same with a little extra. Cole continued his workhorse load for Badger on the way to an impressive stat line and team victory. The contact balance was on full display, just like in week one. He bounces off shoulder tackle attempts, and isn’t slowed by arm tackle attempts as he keeps his powerful lower body churning away. What this week’s film shows us more than last week’s did was what he can do when he gets open grass to play with. Berghorn goes from a bulldozing 6’ 210 lbs power back to a game breaking sprinter. Cole was timed at 4.41 at the WFCA Combine, and it translates to the field. You have to check this kid out. Diamond in the rough. Cole’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="31336" first="Cal" last="Martine"], RB- Appleton North Stat Line: 9 Carries, 136 Yards, 3 TDs I tweeted this after his week two game, but I’ll say it again here. [player_tooltip player_id="31336" first="Cal" last="Martine"] has one of the largest discrepancies between talent level and college interest/offers in the state. The 5’11" 228 lbs back is built to carry the load at the next level. His body can handle to wear and tear of running between the tackles 20 times a game, and it seems like he gets stronger as the game goes on. Then he adds in the long speed to be able to hit another gear and break off long runs to the endzone. He isn’t just a big back that runs north-south either. He uses his vision and instincts to find running lanes and has shown patience so his blocks can set up before hitting the hole. Get on this beast. He is going off this season. Don’t be the last one on the hype train! Cal’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118300" first="Daeshon" last="Benson"], WR- Hamilton Stat Line: 3 Reception, 63 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT I have been waiting a long time for new film from Daeshon. Hamilton High School lost their 2020 season to the pandemic, so Benson has been forced under the radar, but it’s time for the spotlight to shine on the 6’6" 220 lbs stud outside WR. Both of his scores were Benson using his elite length to high point the ball well over the DB’s head. Daeshon’s body control is another huge strength as he moves very easily despite his size. His one reception that didn’t go for a score let us see what he looks like outside of jump ball scenarios. He hauled in the screen and was able to pick his way through the defense and then flash some speed before being forced out of bounds. Daeshon also made plays on defense. I believe he is an offensive weapon at the next level, but it was awesome to see how his size allows him to recover and make plays in situations that a lot of DBs wouldn’t be able to. Check him out! He is bursting back onto the scene this fall. Daeshon’s Week Two Highlights (His week one) [player_tooltip player_id="31326" first="Jackson" last="Compton"], QB- Greenfield Stat Line: 10/14, 151 Yards, 1 TD, 9 Carries, 51 Yards I feel like whenever I write about Compton I mention his dual threat ability, but I never go into it. It needs to be more talked about, though. It came through in his testing results during summer camps too as he posted impressive agility times. Then you click on the tape and you see him using that short area burst and agility to make plays on the ground. Paired with that, Jackson is an effective passer while on the run outside of the pocket. His mechanics stay sharp and allow him to maintain his accuracy on the move. His dual threat ability will definitely increase his value in the eyes of coaches at the next level too. I’ve seen a lot of times where teams will go with the more athletic passer if they are trying to narrow down decisions because of the more ways that the player could help the team. The more you can do the more valuable you are. Jackson’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118502" first="Westen" last="Liebzeit"], ATH- Reedsville Stat Line: 12 Carries, 64 Yards, 1 TD, 2 Tackles, 1 INT RB, slot CB, boundary CB, Westen made plays at all of them in Week Two. The 5’10" 165 lbs athlete needs to be on the radar of every D3 program in the area. I am confident that he could make an impact at any of those positions at the next level making him a versatile prospect. This week, Westen’s film shines the spotlight on his defensive back skill. He proved that he could turn and run with his opponents with ease, he was able to follow receivers across the formation without getting caught in the trash, and he was very disruptive at the catch point thanks to his good timing and hand-eye coordination. His clips at RB highlight his elusiveness down the field. He made defenders miss in a phone booth at times. Westen’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="31342" first="Robby" last="Michael"], ATH- Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler Stat Line: 19/26, 265 Yards, 7 TDs, 131 Rushing Yards, 2 TDs It’s safe to say this was the top performance of the week as the star athlete out of Kohler was able to tie the state record for TDs in a game with 9! Hugely productive nights are no new thing to Robby, though. Dating back to last fall, Michael is one of the most productive players in the state. As for the next level, Robby can fill a lot of roles. He is a talented safety, and his dual threat ability on offense opens the door to a lot of uses on that side of the ball. On the ground this week, Robby easily picked his way through the defense with his superior athleticism and the vision to see the path to the endzone. Through the air, Robby was aggressive all night as he consistently attacked down the field with accuracy and touch. Check out the film on this record performance! Robby’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118442" first="Brendan" last="Lane"], ATH- Wisconsin Lutheran Stat Line: 4 Receptions, 50 Yards, 2 Total Tackles, 1 TFl It’s short film, but what this week’s film tells me is that Brendan definitely fills the ATH classification. His film is made up of three clips. One on offense, defense, and special teams. At this point, Lane is more of a raw athlete than a prospect specialized in one position, but what he has is the athletic traits and playmaking knack that can be molded into an impact player once he is able to focus on one or two roles at the next level. Wisconsin Lutheran has had a nice start to the fall, and Brendan has been a big part of it with his impact in all three phases of the game. Brendan’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118540" first="Aaron" last="Grant"], RB- Germantown Stat Line: 16 Carries, 255 Yards, 2 TDs, 2 Receptions, 6 Yards Aaron has flipped a switch and taken his game to the next level to start his senior campaign. I mentioned last week how he has transformed his body, and the results really shined this week. His increased lateral mobility has allowed him to generate a lot of space between him and defenders. He then utilized that space to pick up big chunks of yards including some long TD runs. Despite changing his body composition Grant did a great job of maintaining his strength. He still is able to run with power and he let us see he has a vicious stiff arm as well. College coaches, I highly recommend you check out the new and improved [player_tooltip player_id="118540" first="Aaron" last="Grant"]! Aaron’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="31303" first="Brett" last="Prange"], ATH- Manitowoc Lincoln Stat Line: 5/7, 55 Yards, 16 Carries, 64 Yards, 1 TD It was a tough week two for Manitowoc Lincoln, but Prange was still able to let us see what he has to offer the next level. When Brett carries the ball he plays like a fullback. He is a player who runs behind his pads and finishes each run with physicality. He has a little wiggle to his game as well that we got to see in some of his highlights this week. The game situation forced Manitowoc Lincoln to leave behind what they do best, but keep up with this team because they have some solid players, including Prange, that will shine when the game script puts them in a better situation. Check out his week two film here! Brett’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118677" first="Case" last="Keenan"], TE/DL- Wauwatosa West Stat Line: N/A Wauwatosa West is an run heavy as it gets, and this has allowed us to get a great look at the blocking ability of the 6’4" 215 lbs TE [player_tooltip player_id="118677" first="Case" last="Keenan"]. The big man knows how to generate a lot of movement along the trenches to open up running lanes for the plethora of ball carriers in the West backfield. Case does a good job with hand placement as he is able to get inside hand placement so he can control and then get the leverage to drive the defensive linemen off the ball. We don’t have a look at him as a receiver, but as far as his blocking ability he has the talent to play at the next level. Check out what he can do! Case’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="118707" first="Tristan" last="Moctezuma"], OL/DL- Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler Stat Line: Blocked for QB that tied state record with 9 TDs Really like what Tristan showed this week. This week’s film shows off Moctezuma’s ability to be an effective pulling lineman. He was able to get down the line and through the hole without slowing up the ball carrier and also hit his target. Not only hit his target, but usually finish them to the ground. That was another part of his game that jumped out this week. Tristan tossed around defenders on several occassions showing off the superior strength supported by solid technique. The range we saw as a pulling lineman was also on display as he made second level blocks, and was able to hook contain defenders allowing his RBs to get to the outside. Another strong week for the heavily sought after OT out of Kohler. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w3I84lN1s4&ab_channel=NIGHTMARE%2355[/embed] Joe Gardner, RB- Campbellsport Stat Line: 25 Carries, 312 Yards, 3 TDs I’m late to the party on this one! Campbellsport has a solid ball carrier that needs more eyes on him. The state qualifying long jumper carries that explosiveness over to the gridiron. The kid was a big play waiting to happen on every touch as he finished the night averaging almost 12.5 yards per carry. His vision is to thank for a lot of the big plays on the night as he was able to continuously find the creases of daylight that kept green grass in front of him. His explosive lateral movement allowed him to get himself to that green grass he would see before letting his straight line speed finish the play. I also noticed that his contact balance was impressive for a 5’10" 170 lbs back. He fought through and absorbed far more hits than I expected after looking up his height and weight. Check out this diamond in the rough! Joe’s Week Two Highlights [player_tooltip player_id="182716" first="Kamarion" last="Burbridge"], RB- Wisconsin Lutheran Stat Line: 21 Carries, 107 Yards The 5’6’’ 235 lbs ball carrier was the one that the Wisconsin Lutheran offense leaned on throughout the night. Burbridge responded by consistently providing them with 4-5 yards a touch on tough inside runs. You can guess that an athlete built like Kamarion has a very low center of gravity and he uses that to get those tough yards by moving the pile and falling forwards. The north-south runner makes you earn every tackle. Burbridge holds one D3 offer at this time. Others should have him on their radar this season. Kamarion’s Week Two Highlights
