Continue ReadingWeek One is in the books, so it’s time to highlight the top performances of the week! With everyone back to playing fall football we have a huge amount of film to get through, so instead of doing what we have done in the past and doing an offensive and defensive article we will be breaking it down into three articles. On Mondays I will highlight our top performing seniors, Tuesdays will be juniors, and then Wednesdays we will take a look at any underclassmen that went off the previous week. I will also be including a list at the end of some impressive performances from athletes already committed, as well as some that don’t have film posted. Based off the stat lines and film I have seen there are a ton of athletes that need to be highlighted, so let’s get it started with the senior class!
Frankie Collopy Frankie Collopy 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Milwaukee Marquette | 2022 State WI , WR- Milwaukee Marquette
Stat Line: 4 Receptions, 119 yards, 1 TD, 3 Carries, 108 yards, 1 TD
Frankie wasted little time establishing himself during week one as a threat at receiver, and also as a ball carrier. The #1 trait that stood out in the week one film of the 6′ 175 lbs WR is his contact balance. That’s not something that usually jumps out from receivers, but Frankie was able to absorb some big should hits and run right through arm tackles on the way to a big night of picking up yards after the catch and after contact. The play speed was noticeable as well as he was able to beat the Arrowhead defense vertically and horizontally. It looks like the senior is still waiting for that first offer. Check out this week’s film. Collopy has made a solid jump since his junior season. Frankie’s Week One Highlights
Keegan Ofstie Keegan Ofstie 6'3" | 185 lbs | LB Baldwin-Woodville | 2022 State WI , RB/LB- Baldwin- Woodville
Stat Line: 8 Total Tackles, 1 TFL, .5 Sack, 26 Carries, 114 yards, 1 TD
Keegan was playing downhill all night long from his MLB position. The 6’3″ 185 lbs ATH/LB showed off the vision that has caught the attention of a few D2 schools in the surrounding states. Defenses usually have the upper hand early in the season as they rely on reading and reacting to what they see instead of timing, and it is clear in this week’s film that Ofstie is in midseason form as he quickly diagnosed plays and mirrored RBs in the backfield and met them right at the line of scrimmage. Officially Keegan had 1 TFL, but so many of his plays were made right at the line of scrimmage for little to no gain. The week’s film gives us a quick glimpse into his whole game too. He crushed it against the run, and also broke up a pass in coverage, and then showed off nice lateral agility on the way to his .5 sack. Keegan’s Week One Highlights
Brett Prange Brett Prange 6'2" | 210 lbs | ATH Manitowoc Lincoln | 2022 State WI , QB/ATH- Manitowoc Lincoln
Stat Line: 6/15, 90 Passing Yards, 28 Carries, 172 Yards, 2 TDs
The 6’2″ 210 lbs ATH led his team into a serious battle with Appleton West during Week One. They weren’t able to come away with the victory, but there is a lot to take away from Prange’s film this week as he was the engine that moved the Manitowoc offense through the air and on the ground. The stats alone give you a look into the type of player Brett is. He lines up as the QB, but he is there predominantly to carry the ball and use his power and big frame to churn out consistent yards to keep the offense ticking. That’s what he did to start the season. Both his TDs were right up the middle of the defense. The first on film is from a yard out and the second from about 18 yards. The defense needs to close quickly on Prange because once he gets to full speed he is a load to bring down, and you better bring a lot of hats to the ball because the strength at the point of contact is legit. Brett sets the tone with his play style. Brett’s Week One Highlights
Tristan Moctezuma Tristan Moctezuma 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Sheboygan Lutheran | 2022 WI , OL/DL- Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler
Stat Line: 3 Total Tackles, Blocked for 137 Passing Yards, 216 Rushing Yards
The 6’4″ 285 lbs two way trench monster started the season off mauling defensive linemen and making some solid plays along the defensive line. On offense, Tristan repeatedly demonstrated his very heavy hands. He does a consistent job of transferring all his momentum into that initial punch and it generated a lot of movement and open lanes for his RBs. On defense, heavy hands were still there as he did a good job of using them to get separation while keeping his eyes in the backfield so he could find the ball. Tristan has piled up an impressive list of D3 offers thus far. Definitely a lineman to know this season.
Abiathar Curry Abiathar Curry 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Janesville Parker | 2022 State WI , OL- Janesville Parker
Stat Line: 0 Sacks, 0 QB Hurries Allowed, Offense Scored 32 Points
There is a lot to be intrigued about when it comes to Curry. The 6’6″ 270 lbs OT has an excellent frame for the position, and is still light on his feet. The term dancing bear fits Abiathar’s week one film very well. In the run game, I was really impressed by how quickly Curry is able to get himself in position so that his butt is to the hole making it very hard for his defender to get around him to make any plays. He uses that great length to gain control of the defender before they can touch him. Curry also let his strength shine as there are several plays where he has his defender 5+ yards downfield. In pass protection, Curry’s length and reactive athleticism shined as he easily mirrored edge rushers and got his hands inside quickly to land his punch and then control the defender. That length came through huge as he was able to steer edge rushers past the QB even if it appeared that he got beat off the snap. No offers for the Janesville Parker OT, and that needs to change. It will as the tape starts to make it’s rounds. Check him out! Abiathar’s Week One Highlights
Alexander Perelshtein Alexander Perelshtein 5'11" | 255 lbs | DL Homestead | 2022 State WI , DL- Homestead
Stat Line: N/A
It was a good start to the season for the 5’11” 255 lbs NG. Alex spent week one eating up double teams in the trenches freeing up room for his LBs to flow and make plays behind him. As you watch through the week’s film you see the wrestling background come through. Alex understands how to win with leverage and that allows him to not be blown off the ball when facing those double teams from the larger OL. When he was able to get into 1 on 1 situations Alex was able to disengage and win the rep with his superior lateral agility. His quickness made it very difficult for the IOL to mirror him 1 on 1, and even when the double teams came Perelshtein’s high motor helped him to collect some tackles after fighting through the double teams. Check out his film. Definitely a kid that should be looked at as someone who can play at the next level.
What a great way for the team to open the season, in our house, with a Win! Way to go Mighty Highlanders! Here are some of my highlights from Week 1 – Homestead 32 vs Germantown 14 @MJ_NFLDraft @OliverJamesWes1 @PrepRedzoneWI @PrepRedzone @SalomonDLcoach @CoachSaboFIST pic.twitter.com/SF2vcdvPbm

Joe Ollman Joe Ollman 6'2" | 210 lbs | RB Homestead | 2022 State WI , RB- Homestead
Stat Line: 22 Carries, 91 Yards, 3 TDs
I love having new Joe Ollman Joe Ollman 6'2" | 210 lbs | RB Homestead | 2022 State WI film to go through. I have been a big fan since he broke onto the scene last season. The 6’2″ 210 lbs RB has such a well rounded game, which is what led to his jump to RB2 in the state for the senior class. It looks like he has taken a step forward since last fall too. He had to pick up a lot of yards the hard way during week one as the Germantown defense keyed in on trying to slow him down. Ollman wasn’t going to be stopped though. His game is built to win in these situations where he can use his vision to find the small creases, acceleration to utilize the small glimpses of daylight, and the power/contact balance to set the tone and pick up yards after initial contact. Great start to the season for the very talented back out of Homestead.

Cal Martine Cal Martine 6'0" | 230 lbs | RB Appleton North | 2022 State WI , RB- Appleton North
Stat Line: 25 Carries, 181 Rushing Yards, 2 TDs
Cal balled out in Wisconsin’s game of the week. Love to see the big names step up under the brightest lights, and that’s what we saw in the Appleton North vs Franklin season opener. I can’t help but get fired up after watching Martine’s film, and this week is no different. Cal plays like he craves contact. I swear he goes looking for it at times. Nobody runs behind their pads with more power than Martine, and the force he generates on contact usually makes him the hammer and the defender the nail. It’s easy to keep your balance when you barely notice that you just ran over a defender. The balance isn’t just head to head. Martine proved he can have that same balance out in space as DBs go at his legs to bring the 6′ 230 lbs dude down. It’s time somebody comes forward with an offer. Cal can set the tone at the next level with his play style. Check him out. Cal’s Week One Highlights
AJ Nichols AJ Nichols 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH Wauwatosa East | 2022 State WI , WR- Wauwatosa East
Stat Line: 350 All Purpose Yards, 5 TDs
What an opening night for AJ and Wauwatosa East! They needed it all from Nichols too as they found themselves in a shootout with West Allis Hale; pulling out a 62-52 victory to start the season. AJ went off in every facet of the game. You can see the vision, speed, and natural playmaking ability on his KO return TD. He put his burst and acceleration on display as he went from 0 to 100 real quick on bubble screens; one of which he somehow turned into an impressive, long TD. The play speed is so apparently superior to everyone else on the field as nobody on the opposing team could run with him down the fields as he carved up defenses with routes to every level of the field. AJ even got work as a ball carrier where he really got to show how dangerous he is with the ball in his hands as he made defenders miss in the backfield before using his burst to pick up more huge chunk plays. You can’t ask for a better opening night that what AJ had. Check out his crazy night!
Jackson Compton Jackson Compton 6'1" | 155 lbs | QB Greenfield | 2022 State WI , QB- Greenfield
Stat Line: 7/18, 114 yards, 1 TD
It wasn’t the start he and his team were hoping for, but there are plenty of positives to pull from the week one film of Jackson. There are a couple plays in this week’s film that show off Compton making plays either with pressure right in his face or making a play out of a broken play. His TD pass is a great clip that shows off how much his dual threat ability worried the defense as he was able to suck up the DBs as he rolled left making it an easy throw down the field to his wide open receiver. From what I can see in the clips from the week, it looks like the velocity that he puts on some of his passes has seen an uptick. Especially on the short to intermediate range, you can see him deliver passes on a frozen rope. With the arm continuing to develop and his legs being a legitimate threat, Jackson is shaping into a solid QB prospect. Have a look! Jackson’s Week One Highlights
Colton Geurink Colton Geurink 5'11" | 215 lbs | RB Wausau West | 2022 State WI , RB- Wausau West
Stat Line: 38 Carries, 297 Yards, 5 TDs
What a night for the WORKHORSE back out of Wausau West. The 5’11” 215 lbs RB was asked to handle a lot of responsibility Friday night and he responded by carrying the offense to the victory over a very talented De Pere team. I really like what Colton put on tape in week one. He is a player who’s game revolves around his power, but the instincts stand out carry after carry. He does a really good job of seeing, setting up, and utilizing blocks before turning to lowering his shoulder and using his power to finish plays. The way Geurink keeps his feet churning no matter what was the major factor into how he consistently left a trail of defenders behind him as he made his way down the field. Great start to the year as he currently is third in rushing yards, and tied for the lead in rushing TDs. Colton’s Week One Highlights
Darrick Hill Darrick Hill 5'9" | 200 lbs | RB Stoughton | 2022 State WI , RB- Stoughton
Stat Line: 30 Carries, 271 Yards, 4 TDs, 1 2 Pt. Conv., 1 Reception, 33 Yards
I warned you guys that Darrick was going to go off this season. The workload, talent, and offensive line are coming together perfectly, and it helped lead Stoughton to an exciting Week One win over rival Oregon. The biggest surprise of the great week one is how his film starts. It shows a little different side of Hill’s game that what I’ve grown used to seeing. Instead of the usual power, Hill shows that he has the vision and agility to pick and weave his way through a defense, and then the speed to turn the corner and pick up big yardage. Then as the film goes on you see the return to the play style I’m used to seeing from the 5’9″ 185 lbs back. The power Hill generates at that size is impressive, and the well publicized balance he has through the point of contact let’s us know that the Stoughton product is turning into a well rounded threat! Darrick’s Week One Highlights
Sam Peiffer Sam Peiffer 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Cedar Grove- Belgium | 2022 State WI , WR- Cedar Grove- Belgium
Stat Line: 9 Receptions, 169 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 Fumble Recovery TD
Sam put on a route running clinic in Week One. Play after play in his film you see the sudden change in speed or direction create a lot of separation from DBs trying to run with him. Once he gets that separation it’s over because he is going to haul it in with his reliable hands. Hands that you know will come down with it even during times when the DB is in a good location. A trait that really stood out more this week that it did last season is Peiffer’s play after the catch. Mayville’s defensive backfield could not bring him down on their first try and needed to make sure that several of them were nearby to ensure they could finally wrestle him down. Having that physicality after the catch is going to be a nice addition to Sam’s already strong game. Check out the tape! Sam’s Week One Highlights
Luke Haertle Luke Haertle 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Lake Country Lutheran | 2022 State WI , QB- Lake Country Lutheran
Stat Line: 15/23, 233 Yards, 3 TDs, 6 Carries, 116 Yards, 2 TDs
One of Wisconsin’s top uncommitted QBs went off in Week One. Whether it was with his legs or his arm, Luke torched the St. Mary’s Springs defense all night long. My favorite aspect of Luke’s game is how he never panics and when the play breaks down he can make something out of nothing thanks to his live arm and dual threat ability. You have to believe that’s his basketball background coming through in those moments where he takes over on his own and makes something happen. The arm has really taken the next step too from where it was last season. Whether it’s on time, off platform, or on the run Haertle has clips showing that he can put the ball exactly where he needs it and with an array of velocity levels. Haertle was always in control Friday night, and it looks like he is poised for a huge season. He is going to be must watch this fall. Luke’s Week One Highlights
Leonard McClain Leonard McClain 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Martin Luther | 2022 State WI , RB/LB- Martin Luther
Stat Line: 12 Carries, 72 Yards, 2 TD
McClain is a player that has started getting the attention of the D3 and NAIA levels this summer. The 5’10” 172 lbs RB started the season off with a clutch performance in Week One. McClain stepped up huge in the 4th quarter to put the game away for Martin Luther. With them up just 13-12, Leonard came in and score twice from 12 and 3 yards out. Leonard is a one cut running back that does a good job of following his blocks, and then making plays after utilizing his blocks to their fullest. McClain also let us see that he has the speed to stretch the field horizontally as he was able to find success off tackle on a few carries. Solid start to the season for McClain. Leonard’s Week One Highlights
Jayden Bridgewater Jayden Bridgewater 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Greendale | 2022 State WI , RB- Martin Luther
Stat Line: 17 Carries, 98 Yards, 1 TD
The other half of the Martin Luther double headed backfield is the 5’10” 180 lbs talent. Jayden’s week one film shows off nice inside-outside versatility. He is a compact, thick ball carrier who is able to generate a good push between the tackles and when he meets a defender. Jayden also has the speed to get outside the contain and make big plays out in space. I like the vision he shows as a ball carrier as well. On his TD run he located the hole, stuck his foot in the ground, and shot through the gap and into the endzone. The elusiveness popped at times too including a rep where he made two defenders miss in the backfield before picking up a big chunk. Bridgewater also has a couple of solid defensive plays showing off his range at the LB position. Check him out below!
Max Ringwall Max Ringwall 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Eisenhower | 2022 State WI , ATH- New Berlin Eisenhower
Stat Line: 12 Carries, 113 Yards, 2 TDs, 1 reception, 7 yards, 4 Total Tackles
Max had an impressive opening night. His frame looks all of his reported 6′ 180 lbs and he has the speed to pair with it to make himself a dangerous two way weapon for New Berlin Eisenhower. He demonstrated how dangerous he can be with the ball in his hands as he repeatedly was able to find the seam on kick off returns setting his offense up with good field position. That ability to capitalize on those glimpses of daylight also shows up on his work at RB. In those situations he also showed us that he has the talent to be able to run through arm tackles, and drag defenders, as they hold on in hopes that other defenders will join in on the tackle attempt. Strong week one showing for Max. He has my attention. Max’s Week One Highlights
Cam Fane, WR- Madison Edgewood
Stat Line: 4 Receptions, 140 Yards, 2 TDs
Hello, Mr. Fane! I’ve been looking forward to checking this kid out this fall, and he is off to a great start. The 6’2″ 175 lbs WR runs a listed 4.5 40 and it jumps out on his game film. It’s a legit time. He only had four receptions to start the season, but those four show off a lot of his game. His first reception shows off his ability to create huge separation with his sudden, sharp route running. His second reception, and first score, Cam eats up the cushion from the DB and flies right by him for the score as he takes the top off the defense. The third reception, and second score, gives us a look into Cam’s elusiveness in tight quarters despite his bigger frame. He perfectly utilizes his blocks, and his lateral agility, to find a lane and then accelerates to top speed quickly. Get on this kid early. He is going to put together a very impressive senior season. Cam’s Week One Highlights
Robby Michael Robby Michael 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Sheboygan Lutheran | 2022 State WI , ATH- Kohler/Sheboygan Lutheran
Stat Line: 10/17, 137 Yards, 3 TDs, 12 Carries, 94 Yards, 6 Total Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 FF
Robby is back on the field for his senior season, and back to making impressive plays on both sides of the ball. On defense, I was really impressed with the range that Michael showed off on several plays to start the film. It’s not just the ability to get to a spot, it’s his ability to get their on time and then make a play. That range allowed him to go from his deep safety spot up to the backfield where he got a sack, and up to the line of scrimmage where he forced a fumble. That range translates to the play speed to make plays with his legs on offense. It seems like we might be seeing more designed runs for the agile playmaker if we go off what Kohler showed on Friday. It’s going to lead to some strong film for Robby. Make sure to check out the ATH. He can help a team at the next level in several ways. Robby’s Week One Highlights
Aaron Grant Aaron Grant 5'8" | 245 lbs | RB Germantown | 2022 State WI , RB- Germantown
Stat Line: 6 Carries, 33 Yards
I wanted to get Aaron into this article to highlight his offseason. No doubt he must of been grinding like crazy. Last time I checked out his film he was 5’8″ 245 lbs. I watched his week one film and it’s like a whole new person. Aaron now checks in at 5’8″ 215 lbs and he looks great for the position! That roughly 30 lbs loss has allowed him to become far more agile laterally speaking. His film shows some jukes and jump cuts that wouldn’t have been nearly as effective a year ago. Aaron is ready to roll this season. His team didn’t have the results they wanted week one, but keep an eye on this dude. Check out his film from week one here. Aaron’s Week One Highlights
