With just 55 players previous ranked, there were plenty of players that will be newly ranked on PrepRed Zone's 2023 Indiana's rankings. That was exactly that case as a large amount of new names popped up all across this update. Here are the notable newcomers from the running back and tight end group and a breakdown of why they made this update. Also take a look at the stock risers and the newcomers from the QB's and WR's.
Castle RB [player_tooltip player_id="148581" first="Peyton" last="Guerzini"] (5'11” and 185lbs) @GuerziniPeyton
Rank: 67 overall, RB 6
An extremely patient back, Guerzini waits for the line to create an opening then has that knack to know when to plant his foot in the ground and turn upfield. Although he's not a big back at this stage, there's still more than a few pounds of good weight that can be added to his frame, the strength is still there. Defenders have a difficult time tackling him up high, many of the just bounce off. Guerzini has solid speed which can lead to some explosive plays. Behind a solid line, he should have a very impressive junior year.
Lapel RB [player_tooltip player_id="185190" first="Tyler" last="Dollar"] (5'10”and 180lbs) @TylerDollar15
Rank: 75 overall, RB 8
A very good athlete, Dollar has some high level moves in his game. He's got a very good jump cut and is elusive and shifty. Dollar dances when he needs to, so he doesn't get caught behind the LOS trying to move around. That's because he has a good sense of angles and uses that hit get through small holes and gain the most yards he can on a play. Solid speed from the back, Dollar has a lot of potential and could move up the rankings after a good junior campaign.
Bloomington North RB [player_tooltip player_id="185200" first="Cody" last="Mikulich"] (5'11” and 185lbs) @CodyMikulich
Rank: 84 overall, RB 9
What stands out for Mikulich is his vision, he sees holes well and has enough speed to hit them for big gains. He's not extremely shifty, his speed is more straight line but that still plays. Mikulich has shown very good hands in the passing game as well, so he can hurt teams with screens and swing passes. He is one of the more physical blockers from the position in the state as well, which teams absolutely love to see. Mikulich is a solid back who could have a very nice season this fall.
New Prairie RB [player_tooltip player_id="185209" first="Noah" last="Mungia"] (5'10” and 180lbs) @MungiaNoah
Rank: 88 overall, RB 10
A back that shows good balance is one that will always play and that's the case with Mungia. He's got a very good center of gravity and it seems like he's always moving his feet even when stuck in a pile. Mungia doesn't have electric speed, but there's enough to be effective. He's also a threat in the pass game and has potential to be a contributor for a program at the next level.
Dekalb TE [player_tooltip player_id="185186" first="Derek" last="Overbay"] (6'4” and 215lbs) @derekoverbayy
Rank: 46 overall, TE 2
There wasn't too much film on Overbay, but what I was able to find it was impressive. He's got a great frame, one that will lead to adding on more weight at he gets older. He's got a very large catch radius, Overbay uses his long arms to make difficult catches. A matchup nightmare in the red zone, Overbay should see his stock rise with new film this fall.
Owen Valley TE [player_tooltip player_id="185172" first="Eli" last="Hinshaw"] (6'1” and 200lbs)
Rank: 61 overall, TE 3
A bit on the smaller side for a tight end, Hinshaw still shows plenty of traits to be a solid player in the future. He's got solid speed and plays much bigger than he actually is. What stands out about his game is his presence as a blocker, which is very impressive. If he grows a bit, he can stay at the position, but if he doesn't Hinshaw could be a very good H-back in the future.
