With the 2021-22 season officially starting this week, the time to highlight a few players to add to recruiting radars could not be more perfect. The majority of the players listed below have been garnering little attention within their own areas, but there are plenty of reasons why each one of them are worthy of gaining more popularity.
Below are six names of players worth keeping an eye out for this season.
Gabriel Broussard | Gateway | 6’2”, 180lbs | 2022 WR/DB
Broussard is a physical player with true playmaking abilities that he uses on both sides of the ball. He is a technical defensive back who is capable of forcing the receiver to make a move early by staying patient at the snap. He has disciplined eyes and does a great job at playing to the hips of the receivers. On offense, he is explosive off the ball and can use his size to create space from defenders. Broussard had an impressive junior campaign that ended with a trip to the state final game, making him a must-know player this fall.
Jace Bellah Jace Bellah QB Pueblo South | 2022 State CO | Pueblo South | 5’11”, 170lbs | 2022 DB/QB
Bellah is a ball-hawking defensive back who is capable of delivering devastating blows on ball carriers. He is instinctive when playing the pass in zone coverage, which only adds to his playmaking abilities. The physicality that he brings to the field can easily be seen when he is on defense, but it is also noticeable when the ball is in his hands on offense. As a quarterback, he is able to rifle in passes on target from the pocket and while on the run. As a runner, Bellah uses his speed, athleticism, and strength to run by and through defenders.
Ari Jacobs | Lutheran | 6’3”, 295lbs | 2022 OL
Jacobs is a big player with an attitude that is set on dominating everyone who lines up against him. He is quick off of the line and has a wide base with strong hands. If he is not instantly engaged at the snap, he goes looking for work until he can find someone to punish. Jacobs is a player who knows how to flip the switch and utilize his skill set with his trench war mentality.
Brycen Mhlanga | Littleton | 5’10”, 205lbs | 2023 RB/LB
Mhlanga is a bruiser type of running back who is capable of hitting holes with excellent acceleration and initiates contact while running through wouldbe tacklers. He is extremely athletic with a versatile skill set that enables him to dominate as a runner, a receiver, and a defender. When lined up defensively as a backer, Mhlanga has the ability to stop the run and lockup receivers in coverage. Mhlanga is a player who has been flying under the radar these last two seasons, making him an absolute steal as a potential prospect.
Tucker Peterson Tucker Peterson 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Roosevelt | 2023 State CO | Roosevelt | 6’3”, 185lbs | 2023 WR

His size, athleticism, and reliable hands make him an ideal target for a quarterback, regardless of being covered. He is versatile enough to stretch the defense as a deep threat, while also being able to pick up a large gain from a receiver screen. Peterson ended his sophomore season with a state championship appearance, which only adds to him being a must-see player this season.
