Seth Strang, Fallston, DE, 6’3″ 210 lbs, 2022
Coming from a smaller conference, Seth showed he belonged at The Gauntlet. What stood out is the potential he has physically, and as a pass-rusher. Physically, Seth is tall and lean with a frame that can easily be built out. As a pass rusher, his best rep of the day was with a surprising bull rush. On this rep, he does well matching the get-off and quickly getting inside the OT’s frame. And shocks the OT backward, before moving inside for the “sack”. Seth has the tools to be a very good pass rusher, and I look forward to seeing his senior season.
Mason Robinson Mason Robinson 6'4" | 225 lbs | DL McDonogh | 2023 State MD , McDonogh, DE, 6’4″ 230 lbs, 2023
Physically, Mason has great size and length. You pair that with plenty of room to add, and great athleticism, and you have a potential top-five player in the state of Maryland. He had the highlight of the day, winning with a long arm bull rush. His length, quickness, and low shoulder level allowed him to match the OL jump, and get his hands inside before the OL could react. Once he got his hand inside, he finished the OL into the ground. Mason looks to be the next great McDonogh lineman, and I am excited to watch his growth during the 2021 season.
Jalen Robertson Jalen Robertson 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Archbishop Spalding | 2022 MD , Archbishop Spalding, DE/OLB, 6’4″ 250, 2022
What stood out with Jalen’s performance during the camp was his versatility. He took reps all across the defensive line and was one of the most active players. He jumped at every open opportunity to have a rep. From a pass-rush perspective, what stood out was his speed from every position. Even with going the OL movement, it always seemed like he was setting the tempo. He also showed promising use of hands when fighting the blockers. He showed a very good, quick, swipe move that he used from the IDL positions. These were on display all day, no matter the matchup. Jalen will be causing problems for MIAA OL all through the 2021 season.
Jason Robertson, Archbishop Spalding, DE/OLB, 6’4″ 220 lbs, 2022
Like his twin, Jason gave every OL nightmares with his speed and hands. Jason’s burst off the line jumped out to me. It did not matter that he had to go on the OL movement, it always felt like he was determining the start of the play. His impressive get-off was only matched by his impressive hand-use. Compared to the other invitees, Jason’s use-of-hands was the best I saw that day. Whether being first to engage, or having to hand fight, he always seemed to have a plan for what the blocker threw at him. His best move was an inside rip he used against the OL MVP. Jason will have a big year, and it is just a matter of time until his recruitment starts to heat up.
Jesse Windham, Archbishop Curley, OC, 6’2″ 330 lbs, 2022
Jesse’s best rep of the day came against our #10 ranked player Kwan Williams Kwan Williams 6'1" | 285 lbs | DL McDonogh | 2022 State MD . On this rep, Jesse showed great hand quickness to beat Kwan to inside position. He stayed patient and forced Kwan to stay outside, never giving up control. And, did well to finish by riding him outside. This set the tone for the day as Jesse continuously showed great patience and trust in his ability to recover. Also, the strength he plays with his hands was the best I saw at The Gauntlet. Jesse caught my eye and is one to watch through this season to see his development.
