They are a well-coached team and play physical when they need to and play smart when they need to. They didn’t quite have the season last year they would have expected but they’re primed to have a nice bounce-back in 2021.
Last year in 2020 the Panthers went 4-3 and fell short in the first week of the playoffs. They ran into De La Salle Collegiate and they got beat down pretty bad. It started early and they poured it on the entire game. The final scored ended up being 58-16.
In 2021 the Panthers are going to be led by Vernard Snowden. Snowden likes to instill playing smart but playing hard. The Panthers are always hard on their pursuit and like to hit the opposing teams in the mouth. Last year, the Panthers did struggle, but they managed to average 31 PPG. The offense wasn’t really the issue. They were giving up 24 PPG last year and that can add up in a hurry if you fall behind as they did in the playoffs.
The Panthers are led on offense by Tyrell Henry Tyrell Henry 6'0" | 160 lbs | ATH Roseville | 2022 State MI . Henry is being recruited as an ATH but he plays WR for the Panthers and is their biggest threat. He can play in the slot, out wide, or in the backfield when needed. Henry is a 3-star recruit and is listed as 6’1″ and 170 lbs. He’s currently committed to Michigan State and doesn’t appear to have any interest in retracting that commitment.
Defensively the Panthers are led by Malachi Clark Malachi Clark 6'2" | 285 lbs | DL Roseville | 2022 State MI . The big DL comes into his senior year as 6’2″ and 280 lbs. He’s able to eat up multiple gaps and always apply pressure on the opposing QBs. He’s listed as a 3-star recruit and had offers from Air Force, Central Michigan, and Cincinnati before he committed to Miami.
The Panthers start their season on August 26th at 7 PM on the road against Monroe. They have back-to-back away games before coming home to face St. Clair 2 weeks in a row. The Panthers then finish their season at home against Dakota on the 22nd of October.
How well the Panthers do in 2021 depends on their 2 stars and how well they develop. A star on both sides of the ball goes a long way. Both of those kids can play, they are well-coached, and expect to make a push in 2021.
