The St. John’s Cadets square off at home against New Jersey’s Don Bosco Prep this Saturday @2pm.
St. John’s Cadets
Offense:
2022 6’1 190 QB – [player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"]
[player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"] will be starting his final high school opener and there’s no bigger stage than against a powerhouse Don Bosco team from New Jersey. Hagan showed flashes of greatness during the Spring season against elite competition and it seems to be because he’s so comfortable with the Cadets’ offensive scheme. He gets the ball out of his hands fast and he’s always sure to include his premier playmakers such as [player_tooltip player_id="121525" first="Jamar" last="Curtis"] and [player_tooltip player_id="90620" first="Khari" last="Butler"]. Behind one of the most elite offensive lines in the country, [player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"] is going to put points up on the board, therefore the real question will be whether or not Don Bosco can respond with their offense. Expect nothing less than fireworks from [player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"] in this clash of titans.
2022 6’3 170 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"]
If Don Bosco allows [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] to get free in the open field then it will be a long day for them. He’s a dynamic playmaker and his mere presence in the huddle will open up space for his teammates. Linkins and his quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id="134896" first="Wyatt" last="Hagan"], have a special ability to connect for big time plays and it’s usually for a massive touchdown. The two were almost unstoppable in the Spring and we will now see how their connection stands against a formidable foe. It’s essential that Don Bosco put their best DBs on [player_tooltip player_id="136028" first="DJ" last="Linkins"] if they want to compete.
Defense:
2022 6’4 230 DL – [player_tooltip player_id="90511" first="Isaiah" last="Smith"]
If the question is defense then the answer is [player_tooltip player_id="90511" first="Isaiah" last="Smith"]. No offensive lines have been able to stop him and it will not start on Saturday. His speed is truly remarkable for his size and it all starts with footwork. He has incredibly fast feet with insane power in his upper body and it’s just an unstoppable tandem that he possesses. [player_tooltip player_id="90511" first="Isaiah" last="Smith"] is a gifted athlete and a fantastic leader for this football team who will do great things at the next level and in this game for certain.
2022 6’0 185 DB- [player_tooltip player_id="90520" first="Phil" last="Rawlins"]
The defensive backs of St. John’s will have a premier impact on this football game, and [player_tooltip player_id="90520" first="Phil" last="Rawlins"] is one of the elite DBs on the Cadets’ squad. His speed combined with his vision and football intelligence make him a nightmare for ball catchers to deal with at any point. When in tandem with teammate [player_tooltip player_id="90518" first="Joshua" last="Thompson"], the Cadets are truly lockdown, and Don Bosco must bring their A1 offense to Military Road on Saturday if they’re going to compete with [player_tooltip player_id="90520" first="Phil" last="Rawlins"] and St. John’s. The Cadets have WCAC aspirations this season and maybe even those of a national title run.
