We updated our 22' Rankings adding new athletes, re-organizing the rankings based on player's summer camp circuit performances, and updated offers. Here are some of the new additions that have made a jump into the rankings. Without further ado, let's dive into it.
[player_tooltip player_id="165455" first="Blake" last="Lawson"] RB St Francis Twitter Highlights Mr. Lawson is from St Francis, his ability to change gears quickly is something that caught my eye initially upon viewing his spring season highlight tape. Once the ball is in his hands he bursts through the line of scrimmage and makes the first defender miss with his elusiveness to gain extra yards. Not only does he get it done in the run game, he also gets it done in the passing game where he's able to catch out of the backfield and after securing the catch he plants his foot to turn upfield quickly. He's an all-around back that I believe is going to make a name for himself as he gets a full fall season under his belt, keep a watch on this young man as his stock is about to skyrocket. [player_tooltip player_id="165456" first="Eddie" last="Kasper"] WR Wheaton Academy Twitter Highlights Mr. Kasper is from Wheaton Academy, his route running ability is so smooth and crisp it's a joy to watch. His ability to snap off his routes in the blink of an eye is astonishing to watch as it creates separation from the defender resulting in an easy completion. He's not going to kill you with his size, rather he's going to rely on his technically sound route running technique to beat you one on one no matter what the route is (fly route, slant, comeback, etc). Over the summer he got a PWO to Montana State University which is the first of many blessings to come for this young man. [player_tooltip player_id="165457" first="Cameron" last="Pickett"] ATH Brooks Twitter Highlights Mr. Pickett is from Brooks, previously I didn't get the opportunity to see this young man's tape or see him live in action but man am I glad it got brought to my attention to take a look because he's a sight to see. He's quick off the line of scrimmage which gives him a step on the defender allowing him to stack up and break the defender off at the top of the route resulting in an easy completion downfield. His route running ability is technically sound paired with his 4.45 40 speed causes major problems for opposing defenses as he's a playmaking machine. Ball State has a great young man coming to their program and I look forward to seeing what Mr. Pickett does this fall as well as in college. [player_tooltip player_id="165458" first="Trey" last="Johnson"] WR Lincoln-Way East Twitter Highlights Mr. Johnson is from Lincoln-Way East, he's an up-and-coming talent that's going to be a name to keep an eye on this upcoming fall season. Paired with [player_tooltip player_id="131425" first="Jack" last="Tremblay"], this receiving core is going to be one to keep a close eye on as they're going to cause problems for opposing defenses. This young man is quick off the line of scrimmage and was used primarily as a blocker this past spring season (where he pancaked defenders left & right) and got hands-on quickly driving the defender into the ground 5 to 10 yards downfield. As this fall season approaches, look for Mr. Johnson to gain a bigger role in this offensive unit and for his production to increase. [player_tooltip player_id="165471" first="Colin" last="Krzeczowski"] OL Lockport Twitter Highlights Mr. Krzeczowski is from Lockport, he has a good frame standing at 6'5 250 and was a mauler pancaking defenders this past spring. What I liked most about this young man is his ability to fire off the ball getting hands-on quickly and keeping his feet driving resulting in pancaking defenders. He washes the defensive line down, holds his own in pass protection by staying square throwing the defenders to the ground. That's not all, this young man plays through the whistle with his aggressive playstyle and doesn't let up. This young man currently holds offers from Upper Iowa University and Southwest Minnesota State University, I expect more to come his way as he gets the full fall season under his belt. [player_tooltip player_id="165459" first="Adam" last="Alcantar"] WR Oak Lawn Twitter Highlights Mr. Alcantar is from Oak Lawn, he's more on the "under the radar" type of players that we have here in Illinois but man can he play. He isn't going to beat you with his size, rather he's going to do so with his speed and route-running abilities. This young man is quick off the line of scrimmage giving him a step on the defender to stack up and break the defender off at the top of the route creating separation for an easy completion. What I like most about this young man is his "Dog Mentality" that he has and showcases on the playing field, he doesn't care how tall you are or how good you are. He's there to compete and win. If that's the mentality that you want out of a wideout, look no further as this young man fits every criterion. [player_tooltip player_id="165462" first="Quentin" last="Spencer"] WR Wheaton Warrenville South Twitter Highlights Mr. Spencer is from Wheaton Warrenville South, he currently holds no offers and has been to various camps this summer to get his name out there. What I like most about this young man is his break at the top of the route where he creates separation from the defender to make the catch. His route running ability is crisp where he's able to be at full throttle then stick the route last second to a complete halt and once he secures the catch he gets upfield quickly. This slot receiver is one to keep an eye on this fall season as I expect his stock to rise once the season is over and the first offer to come his way as well. [player_tooltip player_id="134542" first="Jalen" last="Buckley"] ATH Batavia Twitter Highlights Mr. Buckley is from Batavia, he gets it done on both sides of the ball and was All-Conference this past spring season. On offense, he's quick off the line of scrimmage when he's lined up at receiver and isn't afraid to lower his shoulder when at running back. On defense, he covers sideline to sideline with his closing speed, attacks downhill, and makes open-field tackles. This young man also partakes in track & field where he has shown some promise as well, keep a watch on him as his stock is prone to rise. [player_tooltip player_id="165460" first="Ak'Tavion" last="Agee"] WR Marist Twitter Mr. Agee is from Marist, he currently has two offers from Rockford University and Macalester College under his belt. He's a speedy slot receiver that is quick off the line of scrimmage and has a good break at the top of his route creating separation from the defender. This is only the beginning for this young man as it was his first season playing for Marist, this fall season we're going to see what he's made of as he gets immersed into the offensive gameplan. This young man is also a track star where he qualified for state in the 4x200 meter relay further showcasing his speed. Keep an eye on how he does this fall season as I expect his stock to rise when the season is over.
These are some of the young men that are new additions to the 22' Rankings as they continue to get ready for the fall season to start. They are all names to keep an eye on as they have the skillset to play at the next level and it will be fun to see how they produce with a full season under their belts. Be sure to follow @jamaskane regarding news & information for Illinois High School Football, @PrepRedzoneIL, and @PrepRedzone.
