We start the evening by evaluating the next 10 prospects from the #10 ranked overall in the Dakotas to the #1 ranked overall prospect which to no one’s surprised, comes from the 11AAA state champions. Enjoy
Destin Glynn Destin Glynn 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Rapid City Stevens | 2024 | RB/FB | Rapid City Stevens (SD)
Glynn has some solid explosiveness early in his runs, but I think he will need to develop more stamina to stay the course of the run over these next few years. He has some solid vision on his inside runs and waits for the gap to develop before making his push through it. I saw Destin at the SDSU prospect camp this summer, and based on what I saw, look for him to draw for more power in his runs in the 2021 season for the Raiders as he was significantly bigger size-wise than the tape read. Look for Glynn to be a possible opposite of his older brother Uriah Glynn Uriah Glynn 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB RC Stevens | 2022 State with more of a bully attack when he has the football in his hands, more like a fullback.
Cruz Soulek Cruz Soulek 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Chamberlain | 2024 State | QB | Chamberlain (SD)
There is a lot to like about Soulek with his freshmen year QB tape for the Chamberlain Cubs. He has the excellent arm strength for his age and has a good touch on the football that pairs well with his percison. He also adds a quick trigger to his arsenal as he reacts quickly to what the defense gives him and is well versed in making the quick throw. From what my eyes can see, Soulek should be a continued top 3 quarterback throughout the years as he grows on the solid skillset he already has. He also shows concrete ball placement for just an incoming sophomore.
Maddox Maloney Maddox Maloney 6'2" | 170 lbs | LB Fargo Davies | 2024 ND | WR/DB | Fargo Davies (ND)
Maloney can be described as a slippery wideout that if you give him an inch, he will turn it into plenty of yards. He has a strong lower body that gives him a strong hip drive to get out of arm tackles with ease. Let’s not underestimate his burst either when he gets into the open field, as that is fun to watch as well. Standing at 6’2 170 pounds, Maloney has the potential to earn more reps as a sophomore as I viewed the Eagles returning WR core, and he may be the biggest weapon left in that unit as the Eagles are going to be much younger next year.
Tate Schafer Tate Schafer 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2024 State SD | QB | Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD)
The solid mix of throws that Schafer can make is what puts him as the #1 QB in the Class of 2024 with this most recent update out of Sioux Falls Lincoln. He shows he can get the ball out of his hands very quickly and has some elusiveness in his game when throwing on the run. I thought his touch on the football improved the more I watched his tape, which is an incredible sight to see. He has excellent arm strength, especially on throws between 5-17 yards. I certainly think this young man will have college football in his future, even if he’s several years away.
Matthew Anderson Matthew Anderson 6'5" | 190 lbs | ATH Canton | 2024 State SD | WR | Canton (SD)
There is not a longer receiver I have seen on our list than Canton’s Matthew Anderson Matthew Anderson 6'5" | 190 lbs | ATH Canton | 2024 State SD . He has a solid catch radius & balance and is a prospect that can create his own routes when the play breaks down. He shows some solid flashes of his burst, which I think can even improve as the years go along. This is a young man that you let him use his vertical and go get the football, especially as a severe red-zone threat in the passing game. I have heard from a source that this young man might still have some growing left to do in his high school years as if 6’4 wasn’t tall enough for Canton’s receiving core.
Peder Haugo Peder Haugo 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Fargo North | 2024 State ND | RB/LB | Fargo North (ND)
Some may look at Peder’s tape and not find much there, and they would be correct, but there is an excessive amount of potential that is very untapped. I am also basing my ranking as Peder is one of the first kids on this list I have seen in person at the SDSU prospect camp and saw how much this young man flew around in drills and posted some solid 40 and shuttle numbers. This young man has a terrific motor and is such a physical force on both sides of the ball. At tailback, this young man has a burst, and that burst will only get faster with more reps in a Spartans uniform. Much like Maloney, Haugo has a similar situation as far reps go coming in as a sophomore as Fargo North and a young roster like Fargo Davies. It will be fun to see what he turns his sophomore season into on the north side of Fargo.
Luke Fraser Luke Fraser 5'11" | 195 lbs | ATH Hamlin | 2024 State SD | RB/DB | Hamlin (SD)
Fraser was a prospect I found on complete accident when watching Hamlin in the state championship in 2020. With Jackson Noem Jackson Noem RB Hamlin | 2021 State playing thru injury in the late quarters, Fraser was the kid out there who kept working his tail even though the Chargers did not have much gas left in the tank to win the ball game. What stands out about Luke on film? This young man is very versatile and can play in many different sets, especially offensively. Pass catching, he does it, wildcat QB, he does it, shifty footwork, he’s got it, and a bunch more skillsets too. He shines defensively by making interceptions that are off-balance yet tough plays to collect. I think this kid has some solid athleticism, and I am excited to see it blossom over his next three years of varsity football.
Collin Tisdall Collin Tisdall 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Herreid-Selby | 2024 State SD | LB | Herreid-Selby (SD)
If you love smash-mouth linebackers as much as I do, all you have to do is spend at least 30 seconds on Collin Tisdall Collin Tisdall 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Herreid-Selby | 2024 State SD ’s tape to find exactly that. And it just keeps happening the deeper you get into his film as him on the attack into that first level and beyond it into the backfield as just a freshman is really fun to watch. The great thing about Tisdall is just how much physicality he has in him as primarily a stand-up linebacker. With plenty of time left in his varsity career, I can’t wait to see where this young man ends up at the end of the 2021 season, as I expect his contact level with only get stronger, especially for how hungry the Wolverines are for a state title and their sufficiently amount of time their kids spend in the weight room.
Isaiah Favors Isaiah Favors 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Bishop Heelan | 2024 State IA | RB/LB | Dakota Valley (SD)
It’s hard to find a prospect at this age that shows the patience when running between the tackles as much as Dakota Valley’s Isaiah Favors Isaiah Favors 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Bishop Heelan | 2024 State IA does. He does a great job of reading his gaps and accelerating through those gaps in high traffic areas, with usually a strong result of a herd of yards. He is a tailback prospect that feeds off contact instead of getting away from it. Sometimes, when I watch his tape, he gets lost in the shuffle and then reappears when he breaks out with solid speed. There is a lot to like about Favors at linebacker as well as his motor is high, and he is a menace in the backfield if left untouched. Excellent football pedigree, too, as his brother Nathan Favors is a Minnesota State-Mankato commit this season.
Navarro Schunke Navarro Schunke 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL Brandon Valley | 2024 State SD | OL | Brandon Valley (SD)
A recent selection on our second-team Preseason All-State in 11AAA a few days ago, Schunke, by far, had to be the #1 overall prospect in the Class of 2024. My reason why? Programs like Nebraska have brought in back to back years of South Dakota talent to Lincoln. Still, no one recruits South Dakota this early unless a prospect blows evaluators away, like Navarro Schunke Navarro Schunke 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL Brandon Valley | 2024 State SD . More can even be said about Notre Dame showing interest, as I am sure it’s been a very long time that the Fighting Irish has invaded the Dakotas looking for talent. When I watched Navarro in the state championship game last season for one of the first times, I shared messages with colleagues in shock as I was so impressed with his play on the offensive line and thought I was there was a typo in my program that this kid was just an 8th grader at the time. Although he has not posted his film yet via Hudl, we are well aware of what a talent this young man is as he already has three championships to his name in his young career in Brandon.
