Prep RedZone Arkansas Team Preview Vilonia

The Vilonia Eagles are a team that put together a respectable season while battling the injury bug last season. Coach Todd Langrell and the Vilonia Eagles return a large number of seniors, and the potential is there for a big season. We are going to take a look at some of the key players returning for the Eagles as well as take a look at a few key games to circle on the calendar. On the offensive side of the ball, the Vilonia Eagles have several key players returning. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="75081" first="Austin" last="Myers"] had to deal with the injury bug last season and still churned out a solid performance. Myers had thrown for 903 yards and five touchdowns before a thumb injury sidelined him for the season. Myers has a strong arm, and he does not have a problem throwing the football on the run. He will be a player that the defense will be forced to account for his passing as well his running of the football. The backup quarterback is a talented player as well. Wesley McKissak throws an accurate football and is not afraid to scramble outside of the pocket. McKissak does a great job of keeping his eyes down the field. Keep an eye out for McKissak, he does a great job of not forcing the football and making good decisions with the ball. Vilonia has two quality quarterbacks that they can rely on this season. Vilonia has the potential for an impressive rushing attack this season. Running back [player_tooltip player_id="184132" first="Seth" last="Kirk"] earned all-state honors last season. Kirk rushed for 1,153 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. The more carries he gets the better he performs. Kirk has the talent to be able to wear opposing defenses down. Lane Hunter will give the Eagles a running back that will see some snaps this season as well. Hunter has good speed, and he has the ability to cut it to the outside. The offensive backfield should be an impressive one for Vilonia. Looking at the wide receivers for the Eagles is an interesting process. Vilonia has talented wide receivers that have tremendous versatility. [player_tooltip player_id="75110" first="Kannon" last="Bartlett"] does a little bit of everything for Vilonia. Bartlett rushed for 448 yards last season. Meanwhile, he was on the receiving end of 54 passes for 717 yards and four touchdowns. Jamison Hinsley does an excellent job of working the outside receiver spot. Hinsley uses 4.6 speed well and does a great job of keeping the defensive backs off-balance. Jack Vines, Matthew Benzing, Connor Eary, and Eli Moser will all see passes thrown toward them this season. The offensive line has several key players returning this season. [player_tooltip player_id="185094" first="Coltin" last="Watson"] will be manning one of the tackle positions this season for the Eagles. Watson has incredibly strong hands and can make life difficult for opposing defensive linemen. [player_tooltip player_id="185095" first="Mason" last="Davis"] works as the right tackle and he is strong lineman that is extremely effective in the run blocking department. The offensive line has the potential to be a strong unit this season. On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Campbell Osier is a player to keep an eye on this season. Osier racked up 100 tackles last season and is looking to build on that number this season. [player_tooltip player_id="184132" first="Seth" last="Kirk"] is extremely impressive at the safety position for the Eagles and will be leaned on this season in the safety spot. The defense has plenty of potential to create havoc this season. <strong>2021 Prediction:</strong> The Vilonia Eagles have the talent to win a conference championship this season. Key games to circle on the calendar are the Harrison and Clarksville games. Vilonia has an excellent opportunity to make a deep playoff run this season.
