The Frontier League is generally one of the strongest and toughest leagues in Kansas 4A. While usually known for tough defense and strong run games, lately there have been a surge in great pass catchers out of this Eastern Kansas league. This area of teams is always evolving and seemingly get more and more competitive every season. Whether it’s a trio of players in a dominate passing attack like Eudora, or a sneaky receiver poised to shine when given opportunities, here is my list of pass catchers to keep an eye on in the coming weeks!
[player_tooltip player_id="89226" first="Silas" last="Etter"]- Eudora- The first of the three headed monster for the Eudora Cardinals this season, [player_tooltip player_id="89226" first="Silas" last="Etter"] is going be a problem for opposing defenses. Listed at 6’3", Etter not only has the size to dominate but the speed to match that makes him a serious threat. Very versatile on both sides, the Kansas State University commit will look to lead this big trio of Cardinals to a run in 2021.
[player_tooltip player_id="122458" first="Jaden" last="Hamm"]- Eudora- The next Cardinal on our list is the dangerous tight end in [player_tooltip player_id="122458" first="Jaden" last="Hamm"]. Standing at a large frame of 6’6", Hamm is going to be a huge red zone target. A physical player, expect Hamm to get some big first downs and red zone touchdowns with some mismatches due to his size and agility. Hamm is one of the best tight ends in the state, and I expect this University of Arkansas commit to dominate the next two seasons.
[player_tooltip player_id="127692" first="Jaiden" last="Bender"]- Eudora- The last of this big trio out of Eudora, Bender is going to be another dominant junior for this high flying Cardinal offense. At 6’4" with a good 4.6 40 yard dash, Bender is going to be able to get some 1 on 1 coverage due to the other weapons on offense. Bender will have a breakout season as this loaded Eudora Cardinal team makes a run with one of their best teams in years.
[player_tooltip player_id="155079" first="Zach" last="Knowlton"]- Spring Hill- The best player on this good Bronco team, [player_tooltip player_id="155079" first="Zach" last="Knowlton"] is expected to build on his big season from last fall. A great multiple sport athlete, Knowlton is going to be a player making a big impact with his blazing speed and great hands for this Spring Hill Bronco team.
[player_tooltip player_id="155078" first="Sam" last="Kleidosty"]- Tonganoxie- The Chieftans lost a ton of talent from last years senior class, but the versatile Kleidosty looks to take Tonganoxie on another solid run into the playoffs and through the league. Although not the biggest frame at 5’10", Kleidosty’s speed and ability to run after the catch set him apart from the other players on Tonganoxie ready to step up. Look for Kleidosty to also make some plays returning kickoffs and punts, further showing his big play ability.
Logan Newkirk- Paola- Newkirk may be a surprise on this list, but he has been turning heads lately in camp and practice. This is will be Newkirk’s first season as a varsity starter, but when Paola decides to throw the deep ball, Newkirk will be able to make plays. A great route runner, Newkirk also does really well near the sideline keeping his feet in bounds while hauling catches in.
