General Information:
Class: 4A
Last Season: 1-4
Opening Game: @ Somerset Academy (8/27)
Next Two: Archbishop McCarthy (9/3), Hollywood Hills (9/10)
Players To Watch:
2023 Michael McGrath is a target on the offensive side of the ball. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound tight end had 8 catches for 88 yards and one touchdown over three recorded games last season. McGrath can also play defensive end. He has good hands and runs a 4.7 40-yard dash. His size and speed should be a problem for defenses. McGrath projects to play at the FCS level.
2022 Christian Dohler is one of the best athletes on the team. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound kicker is also a soccer player and high-level track athlete. Dohler was reportedly hitting 40-yard field goals with elevation in practice on his first day as a place kicker. Can you imagine his progress by the start of the season? Dohler is expected to be the punter as well. Never underestimate the value of special teams. Dohler could switch field position and hit critical field goals with his leg. According to Nottage, he is a D-1 soccer player.
2022 Michael Bagot is another weapon on the outside. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound wide receiver is a good route runner with solid hands. Bagot has good field awareness and can make plays when things break down. He can also play cornerback. Bagot projects as a D-2 player.
2022 Joey Grisetta and 2023 Alex Wigginton are vying for the starting quarterback job. Per MaxPreps, Grisetta threw for 220 yards and four touchdowns while tossing four interceptions last season. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Grisetta also rushed for 100 yards on 27 carries. Therefore, he has dual-threat capability under center. Grisetta is also valuable as a defensive back. In the classroom, he holds a 4.0 GPA. Wigginton is a bit bigger at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds. He is a transfer from Long Island, NY.
2025 DeAndre Desinor is a name to watch. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound running back reportedly runs a 4.5 40-yard dash. Desinor can also play safety. He is part of a strong 2025 group for North Broward Prep. That class includes fullback/linebacker Jack Wigginton (5’11,185) and lineman Braden Seculer (6’2,230). I look forward to watching this class develop.
2022 Dylan Taylor is the horse in the backfield for North Broward Prep. Per MaxPreps, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound halfback had 51 carries for 175 yards and two touchdowns last season. Taylor also caught six balls for 79 yards and one touchdown. He can also play cornerback. Taylor had a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown as a junior. He can be a lightning rod for this team on the field.
2022 Bryce Katari is a big offensive lineman (6’2,280) with good technique. He is a smart player that can play multiple positions on the line. Katari will be a leader upfront.
Others To Watch:
2022 Sergio Loza – Wide receiver (6′,160)
2023 Jensen Seculer – Offensive/Defensive lineman (6’3/250)
2023 Graham Mathieu – Offensive/Defensive lineman (6’2,290)
2022 Michael Peralta Haua – Defensive tackle (5,8,240)
2022 Apolo Rodriguez – Wide receiver (6′,175)
Outlook:
The quarterback battle between Grisetta and Wigginton should be interesting. That competition seems to be completely open at this point. I am looking forward to watching Desinor develop over the years. He has a chance to be a D-1 player. McGrath has the size and speed to make game-breaking plays on offense. Two-way starters should be Taylor, Loza, Grisetta and McGrath.
