There are some impressive football programs in the state of Florida and many of them get their attention and respect. But there’s one team that has produced the best record in Florida the past two years and NOBODY talks about them.
Located right in the heart of the Panhandle, between Pensacola and Panama City is Niceville – the home to one of the most overlooked football programs in a loaded Sunshine State.
After losing the past two years to eventual 7A state runner up Orlando Edgewater, the Eagles have been a very impressive 23-2.
As we head toward to 2021 season, this is a program – once again that figures to be right there in the center of the state championship talk with impressive football talent for head coach Grant Thompson and his football team.
Senior standouts such as heavily-recruited [player_tooltip player_id="50050" first="Austin" last="Firestone"] (OT, 6-5, 260) and impressive and very productive Azareyeh Thomas (CB, 6-3, 180) leading the way.
College coaches continue to check this program out every year because of the elite talent that the Eagles have long been able to produce.
In addition, the Class of 2022 will have impact players like Gabe Calhoun (NG, 5-10, 300), Ryan Driscoll (OL, 6-5, 260), Ethan Edge (DE, 6-1, 215), Joe Hanson (OL, 6-4, 260) and linebacker Noah Harman (LB, 5-10, 205).
The Class of 2022 will also feature Peyton Holley (FS, 6-0, 175), [player_tooltip player_id="128084" first="Khalil" last="Jacobs"], Athlete, 6-3, 220), athletic quarterback Addie Moore (5-11, 180), cornerback Jeremy Moore (5-11, 155), Bird Pope (RB, 5-10, 160), Tyler Powell (CB, 5-11, 165), Murphy Preston (LB, 5-10, 200) and versatile Eric Trapp (OC, 5-11, 240).
THE FUTURE IS NOW FOR MANY
At Niceville, if you wear an Eagles’ uniform, you are going to be used if you can help – and the Class of 2023 certainly has a number of those – such as Jaylen Day (OL/DL, 6-1, 280), Raiden Lafortune (LB, 6-0, 180), Jaden Mikhael (TE/WR, 6-4, 220) and gifted cornerback [player_tooltip player_id="128813" first="Jayden" last="Sheppard"] (6-2, 175).
The Eagles also have [player_tooltip player_id="128617" first="Arden" last="Smith"] (DT, 6-0, 240), [player_tooltip player_id="128423" first="Micah" last="Turner"] (RB, 5-8, 175), Levi Taylor (LB, 5-10, 190), DeMariyon Williamson (WR/DB, 6-0, 170) and versatile Austin Zaal (DE/QB, 6-2, 185).
The Class of 2024 is also gifted and has prospects who are going to be fun to watch – like De'Mon Allen (RB/LB, 5-11, 183), Kevin Downing (DE, 6-2, 255), Harrison Orr (QB, 6-2, 170), Devontae Robinson (Athlete, 5-10, 180) and Maddax Fayard (WR, 5-10, 175), the son of former Penn State safety, Lionel Fayard.
