Mr. Football: MAIS Pre-Season Watch List

Today we continue our look at some of the top players in Mississippi that we project to be competing for "Mr. Football" titles. The private school ranks are again loaded with talent and recruiting buzz. Here are some names we will be watching closely. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/stone-blanton/">[player_tooltip player_id="104456" first="Stone" last="Blanton"]</a> | LB | Madison-Ridgeland Academy | SR Blanton is quickly becoming a household name when it comes to high school football in the state. Elite LB build has coaches all across the Power 5 ranks fast on his trail. Good agility for his position allows for elite production. 99 tackles and 11 TFLs as a JR. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jaterrious-elam/">[player_tooltip player_id="104528" first="Jaterrious" last="Elam"]</a> | DB | Greenville Christian School | SR One of the top DB’s in the state, Mike Leach and company in Starkville secured Elam’s commitment early. Elam has nice length to his frame and wins with it in addition to his speed/acceleration off the ball. If his numbers aren’t huge in 2021 it is because the ball seldom gets thrown in his direction. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/wesley-miller/">[player_tooltip player_id="113272" first="Wesley" last="Miller"]</a> | DB | Heritage Academy | SR Much like Elam, Miller’s numbers may suffer due to the fact that no one is going to throw in his direction. Wiry, athletic frame with good length and disruptive hands/arms. Another DB commit for the Bulldogs at MSU. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/dakota-jordan/">[player_tooltip player_id="104547" first="Dakota" last="Jordan"]</a> | ATH | Canton Academy | SR Jordan is a bit of a wildcard as to where he will line up at the next level. For now he produces well at both WR and DB. 27 catches for nearly 700 yards and 9 TD’s on offense with 25 tackles and 3 forced turnovers on defense. Potential for huge numbers due to time spend on both sides of the ball. Also stars in baseball and track. One of the top overall athletes in the state. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/deandre-smith/">[player_tooltip player_id="104069" first="Deandre" last="Smith"]</a> | QB | Greenville Christian | SR Strong kid with elite production since taking on starting duties at Greenville HS as a FR before transferring to Greenville Christian. Huge numbers last year: 2,581 yards, 30 TD’s thru the air and 931 yards and 12 TD’s on the ground. D1 schools have taken notice and his recruitment should continue heating up thru the fall.
