1. [player_tooltip player_id="37655" first="Mac" last="Markway"], De Smet (Florida)
The No. 3 overall prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2023, Markway recently committed to Florida after receiving scholarship offers from more than two dozen colleges from coast to coast, including Alabama and Ohio State. Markway, a 6-foot-4, 250-pounder who also plays defensive end, has been a varsity contributor the past two years but has battled injuries. Going into his junior season, he will be expected to emerge as a difference maker.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="101690" first="Caden" last="Wiest"], Reeds Spring
Wiest, the No. 17 overall player in the class, is a 6-4, 245-pounder who could be a Division I prospect at any number of positions: tight end, defensive end, linebacker or running back. As a sophomore he caught 21 passes for 249 yards and six touchdowns. This fall, as a junior, Reeds Spring is expected to get Wiest the ball however possible, throwing it to him, handing it off to him or even snapping it to him in Wildcat situations. Good luck to opposing defenses.
3. [player_tooltip player_id="103409" first="Zach" last="Ortwerth"], St. Louis University High
Ortwerth, a 6-5, 215-pounder, is the No. 28 overall prospect in the updated 2023 rankings. Ortwerth missed his sophomore season after suffering an injury over the summer, but has come back strong this offseason. He is a potential two-way starter at tight end and defensive end on what should be one of the St. Louis area's most talented teams.
4. [player_tooltip player_id="103377" first="Eli" last="Youman"], Blue Springs
Another big tight end who stands 6-5 and weighs 230 pounds, Youman checks in at No. 66 overall in the updated Missouri 2023 rankings. He is expected to split time with senior [player_tooltip player_id="99750" first="Ikenna" last="Ezeogu"], an Iowa State commitment as a defensive end, at the tight end spot for a talented Blue Springs squad and should get plenty of chances to show what he's capable of.
5. [player_tooltip player_id="172479" first="Ryan" last="Doehring"], Chaminade
A 6-5, 210-pounder, Doehring checks in at No. 68 overall in the 2023 rankings. Like Ortwerth at SLUH, Doehring is a tight end-defensive end who has a chance to start at both positions this fall. He was primarily a defensive end as a sophomore when he recorded 10 tackles and one sack in two games.
