There are 16 linebackers in the Class of 2023 rankings and 30 linebackers overall including the prospects on the watch list. Today we are taking a look at the top five. (NOTE: For more information on each of the prospects, including links to HUDL highlights, please click on the player's names to check out their prospect pages.)
1. [player_tooltip player_id="103406" first="Andrew" last="Link"], Kickapoo
A 6-foot-4, 230-pounder, Link is the No. 24 overall prospect in the updated Missouri Class of 2023 rankings. He played outside linebacker and tight end as a sophomore a year ago, when he was a 210-pounder, but is listed as a defensive end now that he's up to 230 pounds. Wherever he plays, Link will make a difference with his strength, quickness and ability to find the football.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="104128" first="Kaden" last="Moore"], Holt
Moore, a 6-0, 205-pounder, is the No. 31 overall prospect in the Class of 2023. Moore isn't the biggest linebacker around, but he's extremely productive as he's always around the football and makes plays all over the field. He was Holt's defensive most valuable player a year ago, as a sophomore, when he recorded a team-high 86 tackles and added two sacks in nine games.
3. [player_tooltip player_id="101700" first="Luke" last="Gall"], Carthage
Gall, a 5-11, 200-pounder, is the No. 41 overall player in the updated Missouri 2023 rankings after a sophomore season where he established himself as one of the state's top two-way players as a running back and linebacker. Gall rushed for 1,051 yards and 15 touchdowns and racked up 76 tackles with 11 tackles for loss. With his impressive work in the weight room, Gall won't be slowing down any time soon.
4. [player_tooltip player_id="181655" first="Nchang" last="Ndifor"], Liberty (KC)
A 5-11, 185-pounder, Ndifor is the No. 44 prospect in the class. He recorded 35 tackles a year ago, including five for loss, and will have big shoes to fill after the graduation of Liberty's all-time leading tackler, [player_tooltip player_id="96006" first="Jalen" last="Weston"]. After being named honorable mention all-conference a year ago, we wouldn't be surprised if Nchang makes a huge leap this fall. His tape is a lot of fun to watch as he's flying around the field and shows remarkable closing speed when he zeroes in on his target.
5. [player_tooltip player_id="172065" first="Gunner" last="Bryant"], Bowling Green
Bryant, a 6-2, 195-pounder, checks in at No. 46 in the updated Missouri 2023 rankings and may be one of the more intriguing sleepers in the Show-Me State because he plays for a smaller school. As a sophomore, he racked up 85 tackles, including eight for losses, six interceptions and five sacks. His film is a lot of fun to watch because he's just making plays all over the field. We could see Bryant bulking up to play linebacker at the next level or moving to a strong safety spot.
