There are 16 tight ends in the Class of 2022 rankings and 23 tight ends overall including the watch list, though there are a few talented wide receivers in the state who could end up as tight ends in the next rankings update.
Today we are taking a look at the top five. (NOTE: For more information on each of the prospects, including links to HUDL highlights, please click on the player’s names to check out their prospect pages.)
1. [player_tooltip player_id="37527" first="Kaian" last="Roberts-Day"], Festus (Baylor)
The top tight end in Missouri in the Class of 2022 is a versatile 6-foot-4, 235-pounder who is ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect in the class. Roberts-Day, who has been committed to Baylor for more than a year despite schools like Alabama and Missouri trying to change his mind, could end up playing tight end, defensive end or linebacker at the next level but told Prep Redzone he is primarily being recruited as a tight end.
2. [player_tooltip player_id="37533" first="Max" last="Whisner"], Lee’s Summit (Missouri)
A 6-6, 240-pounder, Whisner became the University of Missouri's first commitment for the Class of 2022 when he pledged to the Tigers back in September. The No. 17 prospect in the Missouri Class of 2022 rankings, Whisner picked the home-state school over Arkansas and Nebraska. Whisner's junior film shows a big and strong athlete who is a playmaker on both sides of the ball, at tight end and defensive end.
3. [player_tooltip player_id="37543" first="Gracen" last="Bell"], Lee’s Summit North (Navy)
Bell, a 6-6, 235-pounder, committed to the Naval Academy on July 25 after also receiving offers from Kansas State, Iowa State, Colorado State, Army, Air Force and Buffalo. Bell's junior film shows a player who enjoys to pancake defenders and run them over as much as he does catching passes. He is ranked as the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2022 class.
4. [player_tooltip player_id="172296" first="Miles" last="Marshall"], Pembroke Hill
Marshall, the No. 34 prospect in the class, is 6-5 and 225 pounds and looks more like an oversized wide receiver than Roberts-Day, Whisner and Bell, but has the frame to add more weight at the next level. He has seen his recruiting stock rise recently with scholarship offers from Murray State and Southern Illinois and could attract more interest with a strong senior season.
5. Ryan Schwendeman, St. Dominic
The No. 39 prospect in the Class of 2022, Schwendeman is a 6-4, 240-pounder who recorded 48 receptions for 660 yards and nine touchdowns a year ago as a junior. He has received scholarship offers from Southern Illinois, Murray State, North Dakota and Robert Morris at the Division I level along with offers from smaller schools.
Next five:
