That would be three-star offensive lineman, Griffin Scroggs Griffin Scroggs 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Buford | 2022 State GA .
The massive 6-foot-4 320-pound interior lineman saw his recruitment take off this summer as he was finally able to camp in front of college coaches, and the two in-state programs, Georgia and Georgia Tech, both fell in love with the Grayson (GA) standout.
Scroggs committed to Georgia Tech on June 21st, but after a weekend visit to UGA in late July, Scroggs decided to de-commit from Georgia Tech and open up his recruitment. A day later, and now Scroggs has committed to play for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Scroggs earned his offer from Georgia during an in-person workout for offensive line coach Matt Luke and the Georgia staff. They liked what they saw and Scroggs left with an offer. The Bulldogs hosted him on campus again this past weekend, the last weekend of July, and were able to land his commitment shortly after.
One of the top interior lineman in all of Georgia, Scroggs is a big, nasty center/guard with good size and strength. A Max Preps 2nd Team All-State selection, Scroggs is coming off a big junior season where he helped anchor an outstanding Grayson offensive line to a state championship. One of the best centers in the state, Scroggs is extremely physical and opened up a lot of holes between the tackles for four-star running back Phil Mafah Phil Mafah 6'1" | 213 lbs | RB Grayson | 2021 State GA . He was a pancake machine last year and is expected to be even better season as a senior. The Gwinnett County standout plays hard to the whistle and doesn’t need help from another lineman to take on big, powerful defensive tackles in the middle of the trenches.
Overall, Scroggs has quite the resume. He’s a state champion, a multi-year starter, and held quite a few impressive D1 offers. At Grayson, Scroggs has gone up against tough competition each week and plays as hard as he can every play. He fights hard and just has a knack for putting his opponent on the ground. He’s versatile, aggressive, and now he’s set to play in the SEC at the next level. As for now, the mission is clear. To repeat as 7A state champions this fall with his Grayson teammates.
At this time I would like to announce my commitment to the University of Georgia🐾!! AGTG!#GoDawgs pic.twitter.com/Ygl46UEpld
