Last week kicked off the season in Texas and the games did not disappoint. We saw plenty of stars shine on the field and some even make a name for themselves in just a few quarters of play. Listed below are a few players in the Houston area who put up numbers in their first games and just looked good doing what they do on the field. We had plenty more ballers show out who will be recognized soon as well! If you want to see other players who balled out on the upcoming list, make sure to drop their names on PrepRedzone Texas Twitter!
<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><em><strong>WR [player_tooltip player_id="131415" first="Tyler" last="King"] (2022) - Alief Taylor</strong></em></span>
King showed his dazzling speed game one vs Benjamin Davis. The Texas Tech commit was a step ahead of his defender and located the open holes in the zones on the night. King finished the game with 4 receptions for 102 yards and helped his team to a 31-0 victory and a great start to the season.

<em><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">RB Jerrell Wimbley (2022) - C.E. King</span></strong></em>
From his first touch of the game, Wimbley set the tone of the game with a monstrous 53 yard touchdown scamper where he just outran everybody. He continued to look great throughout the night alongside his teammates and dominant offensive line. Wimbley finished the game with 203 yards with 2 touchdowns on 11 carries, and a 53-0 team win over Cypress Falls to open the season.

<em><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">RB [player_tooltip player_id="60845" first="Re’Shaun" last="Sanford"] II (2023) - Harker Heights</span></strong></em>
Sanford looked like the best player on the field during Harker Heights game vs. Weiss. Sanford was putting everything on display; the vision, toughness, quickness, and burst as he racked up 238 rushing yards with 2 rushing touchdowns on 27 carries behind great blocking. He also managed to have 38 yards receiving on an excellent run after catch to score his first receiving touchdown of the season. Sanford definitely raised his stock in the teams 43-35 win over Weiss.

<em><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">WR Andrew Maleski (2022) - Bridgeland</span></strong></em>
Maleski was just having fun on ESPN vs Klein Cain Saturday night. He was catching everything thrown his way and you could see the smile on his face as he outran defenders the entire night. Maleski played a big role in not only his teams win, but in his quarterback’s, Connor Weigmann, insane statline. Maleski finished the night with 11 receptions, 198 yards, and 3 touchdowns in a dominating performance for the Bears. Maleski jumped up on many programs board after that game.

<em><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">ATH Jarred Sample (2023) - Cy Ranch</span></strong></em>
In just one half of football, Sample proved to be the playmaker we predicted him to be for the year. He was a deep threat who was faster than his defender, showed great elusiveness in open space, and display strong, confident hands. Sample ended the night with 4 receptions for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns, and I believe he was just getting warmed up.

<em><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">RB [player_tooltip player_id="131367" first="Kendrick" last="Bradley"] (2022) - Klein Forest</span></strong></em>
Bradley looked flat out impressive for his first game. Words do not do him justice for what he displayed on the field. Bradley was in a zone vs. Goose Creek and I am hoping he remains in that zone for the season. He ran for 263 yards and 4 touchdowns on 27 carries and did not miss a beat anytime he touched the ball. Bradley helped his team get the win in a 28-12 Victory over Goose Creek. Bradley’s name will continue to rise throughout the season so watch out for him!
