Game Preview: Carver Atlanta at West Forsyth

High school football season is finally here. After a long off-season, games are here and the pads will be popping across the state starting Wednesday. Once again, the high school season will get kicked off in the annual Corky Kell Classic, a series of games between some of the state’s top programs. The first two games are set to kickoff on Wednesday as Cherokee plays Mays in the season opener. They’ll play at West Forsyth where the Wolverine will host Carver-Atlanta in the second game of the night. Prep Redzone breaks down the players to know about in the West Forsyth/Carver game... &nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="33945" first="Oscar" last="Delp"] - TE - West Forsyth</strong> The top-ranked tight end prospect in the country, Delp is an elite pass catcher at 6-foot-4 225-pounds and has no problem flexing out and playing receiver. He’s a complete mismatch for any defender and runs routes like a polished wide receiver. Delp was the go-to playmaker for West Forsyth last year, when they won a region championship, especially in the passing game. The four-star should see more passes coming his way this year from junior quarterback, Keegan Stover. Delp took over multiple games last year, in wins against South Forsyth and Lambert, and he’ll look to play the villain again as a senior. Delp is starting to narrow down his recruitment and will choose from a Final 4 that includes Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia and Michigan. &nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="33892" first="Quintavious" last="Lockett"] - RB - Carver Atlanta</strong> One of the top running backs in the Atlanta area, the 5-foot-11 210-pounder has good speed for his size, but it’s his balance, vision, and ability to break tackles with his legs that really make him one of the best backs in Georgia. He’s a guy who runs hard, moves the chains, and can occasionally break off a big run. He’s built well physically and will be big test for the West Forsyth defense. Lockett keeps the chains moving and is dangerous once he breaks the first tackle. If the Wolverines don’t wrap up properly, Lockett could have a big night. He’s definitely one of the best tackle-breaking backs in the area. &nbsp; <strong><a class="pn-player-link" href="https://prepredzone.com/player/bryce-allen/"><span class="name-pointer">[player_tooltip player_id="33939" first="Bryce" last="Allen"]</span></a> – DB - West Forsyth</strong> Allen is a quick, reliable defender who excels in coverage and is one of the fastest players in the region, claiming a 4.4 40-yard dash time. Allen is coming off an excellent junior season where he broke up a school-record 23 passes. He can run with any receiver he goes up against, but he also knows how to turn around and make a play on the ball instead of interfering with the receiver. Allen made 33 tackles on the season and will lead the Wolverines secondary again as a senior. Once college coaches are allowed back at high school practices, look for Allen to receive more and more interest with the opportunity to pick up more offers. He’ll be tested a lot in coverage this fall and he should be more than up to the task. &nbsp; <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="33952" first="Dialo" last="Mosley"] - LB - Carver-ATL</strong> Mosley is a tough, physical linebacker who can get off blocks with the best of them. He’s instinctive and has no problem shooting the gaps and filling up holes between the tackles. When he comes to make a tackle, he’s going to leave a bruise. He’s one of the top linebackers in the Atlanta are and was a tackling machine last year, leading the team with 127 tackles as a junior. He can go sideline to sideline from his middle linebacker spot but loves to get in the mix and make plays in the trenches. Look for him to make 10+ tackles a game this upcoming season as a senior. &nbsp; <strong>Keegan Stover - QB - West Forsyth</strong> Rising junior QB Keegan Stover missed some time last year due to an injury, but he played very well for a sophomore. He’s healthy now and is looking to get bigger and stronger this off-season. He’s got a live arm and already has experience playing against tough 7A competition. Stover is a 2023 QB in the area who has the potential to have a true breakout season. It will be an important one for Stover who is looking to catch the eyes of some college coaches with a big junior season. He’s got decent size right now, and if he can stay healthy and feed the ball to Delp, he could be one of the top QBs in the area this fall.
