It was also the first game played under the lights at the football field in program history, making it even more special for the program.
It was a dominant win that resulted in a number of players standing out to earn game balls from us. Here is a look at those notable standouts from the win.
Christian Jobe, 2022, 6’2, 235, OL/DL
Where Resurrection Christian won this game was up front. A dominant night in the trenches resulted in touchdown drives on each of the first six possessions of the game. Jobe was seen not only getting to the second level, but he was finishing blocks and putting guys on the ground when getting downfield. His physicality allowed him to win his blocks at the line and move it to the next level frequently in the game. He also showed he was tough to block on the defensive line as well, where the team had a big night getting pressure.
In addition to Jobe, Matt Baudendistel and Shane Byers also stood out with their blocking up front, with Baudendistel also finishing blocks and putting guys on the ground while Byers was good with his pull blocks and delivering hard contact from his center spot when the first team offense was in.
Will Reeves Will Reeves 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Resurrection Christian | 2024 State CO , 2024, 6’0, 185, RB/LB
Perhaps considered the third running option for the team, Reeves is already polished and shows he will contribute in a big way on offense. He runs downfield and takes contact well. He showed an incredible ability to bounce off defenders and seemed to not be tackled by one defensive player all night long. He has the speed to get to the edge as well, resulting in some big runs. Where Reeves is already a key contributor is from his linebacker spot, where he showed the experience he got as a freshman last year has carried over so far. He was able to deliver some big hits, but he looked comfortable in the pass game following receivers in coverage. Reeves is well-rounded and could be an ‘X-Factor’ type of player for the team on both sides of the ball.
Eddie Lemos Eddie Lemos 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Resurrection Christian | 2022 State CO , 2022, 5’10, 175, QB/RB/DB
Thanks to the blocking up front, Lemos ran wild in the first half on offense. He showed the patience to let his blocks form and then hit the hole up the middle. He showed the flashy speed to get to the edge and take it all the way. He also showed that he would not be tackled easily by one defender and can get yardage after contact. His big night put the game out of reach early. Lemos was also a disrupter on defense, whether it was blitzing and getting pressure on the quarterback or playing in coverage in the secondary. With offers from Chadron State, CSU-Pueblo and Iowa State so far, Lemos is showing that he could be in for a big senior season and more offers should come.
Cade Dunlap, 2022, 5’7, 170, RB/LB
The other top rusher for the night on offense, Dunlap flashed the speed to run by defenders and go for big gains throughout the night. He formed a solid one-two punch with Lemos most of the night, and the tandem worked well together on offense. And despite being the smaller back, he is a willing blocker when called to do so. Dunlap also saw the field on defense, which has a dominant performance in getting the shutout. If his steady play continues, look for Dunlap to draw interest from smaller-level schools this year.
