Isaac Barkes – Homestead – WR/DB – 6’4″ 185 lbs
Barkes primarily plays on offense where he’s a leading receiver for Homestead. On Friday however, Barkes was able to change the game with one play. He was able to force a fumble and recover it over 80 yards for a touchdown. As soon as he got the ball he was gone and there was no shot at catching him. As a football player, he’s raw. He’s developing and could use a ton of coaching up. That doesn’t stop him from making plays or having an impact. He’s currently a 0-star recruit without any offers, but he could land some if he keeps making plays.
Ben Simcox – Bishop Dwenger – TE/MLB – 6’1″ 200 lbs
Simcox was flying all over and making plays on Friday. He was able to force pressure which led to a fumble and recovery for a safety. Later in the game, he was able to split through the line and block a punt which completely changed the swing of the game. He was able to make 2 big plays and both of those plays led directly to points. If he can string together more good games, the junior is going to start seeing offers come his way.
Jacob Kimpel – Woodlan – RB/CB – 5’10” 145 lbs
Kimple was able to make his impact on defense. He was able to read the QB’s eyes and break up a few plays. His biggest play was a sack to kill a drive. He was able to rush right up the middle and fend off his block to make the play. He used shedding techniques that he probably spent time mastering this past summer. He’s currently an unrecruited player but if he puts some weight on and keeps making plays the senior could land some offers.
Isaac Zay – Bishop Luers – WR/S – 6’1″ 180 lbs
Zay was the leader for Bishop Luers on Friday. In a game that dealt with a ton of intrigue and excitement as Carroll opened a new stadium, it was Zay who decided the game. Zay was making plays all night and helping stall Carroll’s offense for the entire 3rd quarter after a hot start. Zay was able to make a diving interception to seal the game on Friday to clutch the victory for Bishop Luers. Zay caught a ton of eyes on Friday and if he keeps making plays the sophomore is going to start getting more eyes on him.
Landon Kaschinske – Concordia – DB – 5’9″ 160 lbs
Kaschinske is a starting DB for Concordia. He’s a true DB because he will line up out wide on the X, in the slot, back at safety, or on special teams. Kaschinske was decent on defense Friday, he managed to get 2 pass breakups and a few tackles. His biggest play was on a punt block. Kaschinske cracked through the line and dove and blocked a punt. It got returned for a touchdown, but Kaschinske made that play happen. If he can continue making plays and developing, he could begin to get some college eyes on him.
