There is a lot of talent coming out of the Lincoln area this year with many teams looking at their respective state crown. Teams like Lincoln Southwest, Lincoln Northeast, and Lincoln East seem to be the top teams in the city, there is a lot to like about teams like North Star, Lincoln High, Pius and several other schools in the area. This article highlights what would be an All- Lincoln starting lineup along with honorable mentions (too much talent not to share a few more):
Quarterback: [player_tooltip player_id="147508" first="Noah" last="Walters"], 6’1” 190 lbs – Lincoln East Twitter | Hudl [player_tooltip player_id="147508" first="Noah" last="Walters"] might not just be the top QB in Lincoln but could be QB1 in the state before the year is over. He has all the arm talent and maturity to really unleash on defenses in his senior year. There will be no shortage of weapons to choose from for Walters, with [player_tooltip player_id="191114" first="Cooper" last="Erikson"], [player_tooltip player_id="191090" first="Luke" last="Greisen"], and the emerging [player_tooltip player_id="180280" first="Malachi" last="Coleman"] all waiting to take this offense to the next level. As I have mentioned before, Walters is a QB that will see the offers come in as soon as he gets more game tape that coaches are waiting to see. https://twitter.com/Steve_Marik/status/1406266106185240583?s=20 Runningback: Max Buettenback, 6’1” 195 lbs - Lincoln Southeast Twitter | Hudl Buettenback is an interesting C/O ’23 prospect. A talented baseball prospect, he has already committed to the Huskers to play for their baseball program. Nonetheless, his football potential isn’t going to stop colleges from trying to flip the Southeast back. He is a tough runner that will take it and keep rushing it down your throat until the defense is worn. Buettenback is tough to bring down and has great awareness of where the running lanes will open up. Keep an eye out for the Knights back to supplant himself as one of the top RB/LB prospects in ’23. https://twitter.com/MikeSautter_/status/1404817256408825860?s=20 Wide Receivers: [player_tooltip player_id="180278" first="Beni" last="Ngoyi"], 6’4 180 lbs – Lincoln High Twitter | Hudl Super long, super-fast, and great range, Ngoyi is a wideout prospect that will be making some big-time plays this year. Ngoyi might be the brightest star on a young, emerging Lincoln High team that has continued to develop nicely and should have great chemistry. The Lott-Buzby to Ngoyi connection is going to be strong after an off-season of working out. He definitely has all the physical traits and the intangibles to separate himself as the top ’23 wideout. https://twitter.com/kevinsjuts/status/1400996346748932103?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="191114" first="Cooper" last="Erikson"], 6’4" 215 lbs – Lincoln East Twitter | Hudl Erikson, another baseball prospect (Wofford commit), is also a menace on the football field. Part of a talented WR trio at Lincoln East, he is the returning receiving yards leader and should build on last year’s numbers. It also helps to have [player_tooltip player_id="147508" first="Noah" last="Walters"] at QB; the two players share great chemistry and have great football IQ. Erikson capitalizes on open space, and his atheltcism to make defenses pay. This offense is going to be electric. https://twitter.com/coopererikson16/status/1407780254907834370?s=20 Tight End: [player_tooltip player_id="157651" first="Matthew" last="Rink"], 6’5” 230 lbs -Lincoln Southwest Twitter | Hudl At 6’5" and 230 pounds, Matthew is bound to create some matchup nightmares as a TE. He should see more touches coming his way as he has developed as a pass catcher. The part of his game that coaches will love is his ability to block. Rink does an exceptional job in the running game where he open lanes and moves very well with the O-Line to work as a cohesive unit. He his very versatile as a two-way player and uses his unique skillset to excel in both. Offensive Lineman: Tackles Gunnar Gottula, 6’6” 270 lbs – Lincoln Southeast Twitter | Hudl Gunnar is a beast at OT, and the Nebraska Huskers certainly agree, securing his commitment going into his junior season. As a sophomore, he showed great poise and polish in his game, especially playing for a very competitive Lincoln Southeast squad. He has all the tools you look for in a tackle prospect; he has strength, agility, lateral quickness, excellent technique, and a high football IQ. He is going to be really fun to watch in the next few years. https://twitter.com/GottulaGunnar/status/1408850534619090948?s=20 [player_tooltip player_id="157608" first="Jack" last="L’ Heureux"], 6’5” 245 lbs – Lincoln Lutheran Twitter | Hudl Jack is the definition of a trench warrior, playing both DL and OL. The Lincoln Lutheran starting tackle is a very smart player using power and technique to open lanes and protect the pocket. He does an excellent job sealing the edge and provided space for backs to run behind him. Even with his height, he plays with a low center of gravity and can maintain leverage, often standing up the player he’s blocking. Jack is going to be an integral part of the Lincoln Lutheran DL/OL. https://twitter.com/lheureux_jack/status/1413648382187421702?s=20 Guards [player_tooltip player_id="156076" first="GeGe" last="Crayton"], 6’1” 265 lbs – Lincoln East Twitter | Hudl GeGe will be pivotal for the Lincoln East trenches since he plays both sides of the ball very well. As a guard on offense, he provides stability to the interior line and will be even more experienced this year. Crayton is very strong and is able to get great push at the snap of the ball. He finishes his blocks and plays with a high-motor that brings an extra level of intensity to the East trenches. Damerian Williams, 5’9” 300 lbs – Lincoln Northeast Twitter | Hudl Damerian is a very underrated prospect in my eyes. Although people wouldn’t be so sold on his height, he is a TOUGH man to move. Low center of gravity, size, and a chip on his shoulder is a scary mix for any NG,DT lining up against Williams. An offseason of training and continued development should work in Williams’ favor as he looks to continue making a name for himself on the recruiting trail. Center [player_tooltip player_id="157614" first="Cooper" last="Tracy"], 6’3” 290 lbs – Lincoln Southeast Twitter | Hudl The Lincoln Southeast o-line is going to be a force next year with several players likely to suit up on Saturdays after their prep careers. Cooper’s recent commitment to Minnesota State University will definitely be one of those players. He is a player that has continued to work hard to develop into a top interior lineman prospect. https://twitter.com/coopertracy6/status/1422920568131788804?s=20 Honorable Mentions: RB [player_tooltip player_id="172289" first="Xavier" last="Gary"] - Lincoln Northeast QB Ja Reese Lott-Buzby - Lincoln High RB Cal Newell - Lincoln Southwest WR [player_tooltip player_id="147992" first="Jace" last="Elliott"] - Lincoln North Star OL [player_tooltip player_id="156089" first="Owen" last="Anthony"] - Lincoln Southeast ATH Adonis Hutchinson - Lincoln High WR [player_tooltip player_id="191090" first="Luke" last="Greisen"] - Lincoln East OL Hanan Young - Lincoln Northeast OT [player_tooltip player_id="167156" first="Taylor" last="Wieczorek"] - Lincoln High RB [player_tooltip player_id="191060" first="Hunter" last="Epp"] - Lincoln East WR Keyshon Buckman - Lincoln High
