The 5A has a ton of offensive talent on display this year, we checked out some of them here!
QUARTERBACKS
[player_tooltip player_id="272841" first="Eric" last="Handley"]- |6’1 186| |Fairfield|
We recently wrote about Handley in our article "2024 Quarterbacks to Watch This Fall!" and for great reason. In his freshman season, Handley performed terrifically, using his great arm talent to open up Fairfield’s passing attack a ton. Handley and Ja’Kobi Albert have developed a fantastic rapport with one another, and are only going to become an even more unstoppable duo together this fall. Currently, Handley lists an offer from Kentucky, with more surely to follow this season
Iverson Hooks- |5’10 160| |Pike Road|
Unfortunately, last fall, Hooks wasn’t able to compete all year due to a devasting ACL injury. However, with him coming back this year, 5A defenses need to be prepared, cause he has turned into an outstanding quarterback in the region. Hooks has a great arm that can make great accurate passes but also opens up the offense crazily with his tremendous mobility. His rushing and passing abilities make it near impossible for defenses to plan against Pike Road’s offense. Currently, Hooks lists offers from UCF, Arkansas State, Troy, and more!
RUNNING BACKS
[player_tooltip player_id="126048" first="Quinshon" last="Judkins"]- |5’10 198| |Pike Road|
Judkins had a monstrous year last year for Pike Road that featured him rushing for 1,482 yards and 25 touchdowns off of just only 150 rushing attempts. Judkins has tremendous speed and elusiveness, which helps him make such big plays for his team. Whenever Judkins hits the open field, it is either going to be a huge gain or touchdown. Judkins has been noticed by the whole nation, with offers from Auburn, Florida, Penn State, and more.
[player_tooltip player_id="126053" first="Jaylen" last="Sulton"]- |5’9 186| |Saint Paul’s Episcopal|
Last fall, Saint Pauls’s Episcopal had a 15-0 record, and it is clear that Sulton was a great contributor to their historical season. Sulton has fantastic speed and vision, he can seemingly always find an open lane, and when he hits it, there is no hope for defenders to catch up to him. Sulton currently lists offers from Ole Miss, Florida State, Kansas, and more!
WIDE RECEIVERS
[player_tooltip player_id="125444" first="Jakobi" last="Albert"]- |5’11 175| |Fairfield|
Albert just continues to impress the nation with his incredible athletic ability at wide receiver. Albert possesses great hands, speed, route running, and vision that shows when he is able to take a simple bubble screen or slant all the way to the endzone. As a two-way player, playing receiver and defensive back, Auburn is getting a fantastic athlete who will undoubtedly produce for them in the SEC.
[player_tooltip player_id="130509" first="Jabari" last="Murphy"]- |6’2 200| |Elmore|
In his freshman season, Murphy looked like a monster at wideout, and for good reason. Murphy has fantastic concentration, with the ability to catch out of reach and or broken up passes. In addition to that, he also just physically dominates opposing defensive backs due to his length and size. Murphy has already received an offer from Maryland, but this is a young player that is only going to gain more traction on the recruiting trail this fall.
[player_tooltip player_id="128590" first="Quad" last="Harrison"]- |6’5 210| |John Carroll Catholic|
Harrison is another physically gifted receiver. With his size, he is impossible to interrupt or takedown when he is being thrown to. With being lined up at both TE and WR, Harrison consistently overpowers the secondary with his size and strength, with his catch radius being much longer than other defenders, Harrison is always able to move the chains for his offense. Currently, Harrison lists an offer from New Mexico but surely has more on the way soon!
OFFENSIVE LINE
Matthew Johnson- |6’5 285| |Marbury|
Johnson has quietly put together a great career at Marbury. At 6’5 285, Johnson poses a threat as the team’s starting left tackle. Johnson always is able to control defensive pressure on his quarterback’s blindside, he has quick feet and a non-stopping motor that allows him to keep edge rushers at bay throughout the whole play. Currently, Johnson lists offers from Troy, Louisiana, Akron, and more, and itll be exciting to see where he decides to take his career to at the next level this fall.
[player_tooltip player_id="129493" first="Lucas" last="Taylor"]- |6’5 310| |Saint Paul’s Episcopal|
Taylor is arguably the best interior offensive lineman in the entire state. He possesses a great combination of flexibility and power that lets him completely stop defensive tackles in their tracks. A monster in both run blocking and pass protection it’s no wonder Taylor has received the national attention he has. Recently, Taylor committed to Mississippi State, and after his final season at Saint Paul’s Episcopal, and he will be a key factor of the Bulldogs offensive line next fall!
Jacqawn McRoy- |6’9 315| |Fairfield|
Size is one thing that you can’t teach, and McRoy has been gifted with an incredible amount of it. Standing at 6’9 315, McRoy is a massive offensive lineman that saw playing time at Fairfield as a freshman at both right and left tackle. McRoy is obviously a very difficult challenge for defensive linemen to overcome, with his size, he bullies defenders in both run and pass blocking. Currently, McRoy does not list any offers, but that will surely change in the near future for this 2024 prospect!
[player_tooltip player_id="128277" first="Vysen" last="Lang"]- |6’4 335| |Pike Road|
Lang has been a large reason why Iverson Hooks and [player_tooltip player_id="126048" first="Quinshon" last="Judkins"] have played so well for Pike Road the last few seasons. Lang is absolutely brutal in the trenches, using his size and strength to pave the way for both players to make some incredible plays. As a sophomore, Lang started to gain a ton of national attention, listing offers from Florida, Penn State, Kentucky, and more.
[player_tooltip player_id="129497" first="Anez" last="Cooper"]- |6’6 352| |Pleasant Grove|
Cooper is another massive player that just stumps defenses. It’s hard to really get anything past an offensive lineman of his skill set, at his height and weight, Cooper has great positional speed that helps him get to the second level, and can just throw defenders around like they’re ragdolls. Obviously, this has been noticed very well due to the fact that Cooper lists several offers from Georgia, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and more.
