The world of recruiting stands differently here in the summer of 2021 as most college football programs have a lot less roster space this year than in any other year, but these eight prospects I see as getting more college football opportunities as they raise their stock this coming Fall!
Cameron Zahrbock Cameron Zahrbock 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Yankton | 2022 State | Wide Receiver | Yankton (SD)
There is a lot to like about Zahrbock when it comes to size alone (6’3) but he has even better skill sets on tape. I like the burst he runs out of his routes and he doesn’t need much space to make a play on the ball. I also like his range as he has a long reach to make a play on the ball wherever it might be placed. Zahrbock camped at a couple of local FCS programs over the summer and did not come out with an offer but I certainly think this young man could be a scholarship level prospect at the Division II level.
Isaiah Huus Isaiah Huus 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Bismarck | 2022 State | Running Back | Bismarck (ND)
Huus in my eyes in the biggest surprise without an offer on this list. This young man is well-put-together at 6’0 205 pounds and rushed for around 12 yards per carry in North Dakota’s largest division and was 1st Team All-State. Huus has aggression when he’s given the football that just that sets him apart from other running backs with his downhill motor and solid cutting ability. I can’t comment on his activity at prospect camps over the summer, but man this kid is scholarship football material and wherever that is, some school is going to get a steal especially when he gets his first offer this Fall.
Jordan Johnson Jordan Johnson 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Brandon Valley | 2022 State | Running Back | Brandon Valley (SD)
Johnson is another top 40 prospect that is flying under the radar in the Dakotas. Even though Johnson has a lot of athleticism on the defensive side of the ball and has a solid attacking ability, I think we will see the most out of Johnson when he lines up at tailback this season for the Lynx. I genuinely think that is his natural position for the next level and once he can get those first-team reps, it will open more eyes to scholarship-level football programs as I think this young man has a high ceiling that is going to turn some heads in his senior season in Brandon.
Luke Chiolis Luke Chiolis 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB RC Stevens | 2022 State | Linebacker | Rapid City Stevens (SD)
Chiolis was a recent addition in our last rankings update and one that I have heard a lot of great things about but yet have not picked up an offer yet. This young man is a smashmouth linebacker that hits a solid pad level from the film I have watched and has a ton of next-level size already for the linebacker position at 6’2 215 pounds. Chiolis is also really active in the weight room and benches 350 and squats 405. I would like to see Chiolis get more reps in coverage this fall to show more versatility for the position, but regardless I am surprised he hasn’t gobbled up at least an offer from a small school program throughout the Dakotas. Luke is another prospect that I feel will take off in his senior season for the Raiders and gain more attention.
Angel Jurshge Angel Jurshge 5'8" | 175 lbs | RB SF Lincoln | 2022 State | Running Back | Sioux Falls Lincoln (SD)
Jurshge is a prospect that has gotten some attention from a few Northern Sun programs, but yet no one has pulled together and offered this young man as of yet. Although Jurshge falls below the scale of measurables for some programs, this young man is a tough inside runner that accumulates a great number of yards after contact with his strong lower body. When I watch his speed in the open field, that is a skill set that I think is still untapped as he’s got a lot of burst that go unnoticed. If he can create some more runs with that skillset in the 2021 season, don’t be surprised to see Jurshge get more college-level attention and some offers come his way.
Parker Puetz Parker Puetz 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB Sioux Valley | 2022 State | Quarterback | Sioux Valley (SD)
I believe Puetz might be the most slept on Quarterback in all of the Dakotas at the moment. I really like this young man’s arm strength inside the pocket and the on the run as well. He shows excellent poise regardless of where he’s throwing the ball as his game looks natural across the board. Puetz also is well put together at 6’3 215 pounds and has great accuracy and throw power. Puetz has also a really good touch on his deep balls. He is another prospect I see an offer coming in this Fall based on his skill set at the D2 level.
Conor Hedges Conor Hedges OL Bismarck | 2022 State | Offensive Line | Bismarck (ND)
Hedges is another Bismarck Demons prospect that still has not gotten the love yet with an offer. Hedges is a hog molly prospect that is a solid pull blocker out the gates and has a lot of mobility for his size (6’3 260). He shows on numerous reps he’s well capable of getting to that next level and attacking the defender. This kid has some exciting tape when he’s really in pursuit & is a “block to the whistle” prospect you will want on your college roster. He also is a driver of the bus with his shoving ability. 1st team All-State as a junior. He was a key asset in paving his teammate Isaiah Huus Isaiah Huus 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Bismarck | 2022 State for nearly 1300 yards last season & nearly 12 yards per carry, and certainly needs to be on more college radars for this Fall season. I see Hedges as a stockriser in our next 2022 rankings.
Josh Piper Josh Piper 6'0" | 190 lbs | WR SF Washington | 2022 State | Wide Receiver | Sioux Falls Washington (SD)
Piper has seen a solid amount of interest in the Northern Sun but has not seen an offer come his way yet. When I watch his tape, I really like his catch radius as he can grab heavily contested balls with also really good balance. He has solid speed off the snap and I think could even improve on it a bit this summer going into the 2021 season. I would say the favorite route I see Piper run is his stop-and-go route, as he gets a high amount of separation easily. I had Piper ranked as the #2 WR in the Sioux Falls area back in April, and I stick to my theory that he probably has some of the best footwork as a possession WR in Sioux Falls.
