These pieces, that highlight impact players without FBS or FCS offers, are proven to help those in need of extra attention. Without further ado, here are seven talented senior prospects that need to be on coach’s radars this fall!
Nathan Schilling Nathan Schilling 5'11" | 195 lbs | LB Blacklick Valley | 2022 State PA | 5’11, 195 | MLB | Blacklick Valley | 2022
Schilling’s a middle linebacker for Blacklick Valley who wins low more often than not. He displays good lateral movement as well as the vision to seek out ball-carriers through traffic, especially on zone sweeps that force him in space. He was rarely seen being pushed back in the run game on film, he’s going to hold his ground and at the very least absorb his block from sub-elite linemen. A ton of effort plays can be seen on film, he’s a kid who wants it. He’s a contributor on special teams as well. What Schilling needs most is a stellar and productive senior year. His presence needs to be felt on the Blacklick Valley defense to make his recruitment jump. He’s capable.
Dion McIntosh | 6’4, 290 | OT/DT | OLSH | 2022
Many on this list leave me a little confused as to why recruitment has been slow. McIntosh is an example. To be fair, he also wasn’t on our radar either up until his film was sent in, might be the case for coaches as well. Absolutely love how this kid transitions so smoothly off his initial block into the second level. Solid height/weight combination, could be better. He’s the quintessential athletic tackle who can be seen flying downfield with ball carriers, ready to steamroll defensive backs. Great feet and flexibility. He’s a mover in the run game and can deliver some serious punch either stationary or on the move. He’s a tad bit stiff on the kick-back in pass protection but moves well enough to get the job done against average defenders. Awesome gripping strength from what my eyes can tell. Involved in some combo-blocks that show he can handle heavy assignments. I came away impressed by his Hudl, a program could use this kid for sure.
Emilio Diaz Emilio Diaz 6'2" | 255 lbs | OL Milton Hershey | 2022 State PA | 6’2, 255 | DT/OT | Milton Hershey | 2022
Here’s a prospect with raw strength and meanness to his game. Love him at defensive tackle where he seems fluid and natural exploding out of his stance and using his power to move lineman. He’s got a high punch with a ton of upper body strength to match. On offense, he’s a pulling guard who stays low to the ground and makes sure he finishes blocks. He’s technically raw at guard and at times looks to be thinking rather than playing. Usually the case with pulling guards who aren’t used to the position. Nonetheless, the kid can still be a load to handle in the hole. Coaches would want to see more, much like Schilling, Diaz could use a great senior season to cement just how far he’s come this offseason. Looking forward to it.
Tahir Mills Tahir Mills 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Ridley | 2022 State PA | 6’0, 200 | ATH | Ridley | 2022
Next three prospects are all ranked pretty high and still do not hold any FBS offers. I hope they stay patient! Tahir Mills Tahir Mills 6'0" | 200 lbs | ATH Ridley | 2022 State PA is our 163rd ranked prospect and debuted on our list this summer. I’m a huge fan of the Ridley senior and the way he can cover his zone. He can read the pass, open up his hips and drop into coverage well. I like his athletic skillset at outside linebacker. The kid deserves a true ATH designation from us, as he serves as Ridley’s wideout, running back, outside linebacker, AND punt returner. All of his reps will help him transition to the next level. As a back, Mills’ is a tough runner, who’s reps reflect his linebacking prowess. The reps and understanding of gap integrity go hand in hand. If a team does choose to make Mills their bell cow, he’s got hands in his bag as well. He’s put some difficult catches in traffic on film as well as a limited route tree that at times, takes him vertical to show off his stride. I can say he’s got legitimate catching ability.
Elijah Fonseca Elijah Fonseca 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Manheim Township | 2022 State PA | 5’10, 150 | ATH | Manheim Township | 2022
Another one that leaves me scratching my head. Fonseca, our 129th ranked senior, made our list as a late addition this summer. Much like McIntosh, it’s strange we didn’t have him on our rankings earlier. This kid’s a star in the making in my eyes. I’d vouch for many of these kids, strongly for Robinson and Fonseca. Fonseca is a legitimate home-run hitter anywhere on the field. Serves as Manheim Township’s slot receiver as well as their primary punt returner. He possesses track star speed and gait. His open-field vision is a plus. He can accelerate past defenders who take great angles. He’s a great outlet close to the line of scrimmage, super-smart player who knows how to work with the quarterback when plays break down. His overall field awareness is a plus. He can take screens behind the line of scrimmage, attack bad angles and easily earn first downs if not more. He displays good burst after the catch. Might I mention he also serves as the team’s kick returner. He can provide some defensive back reps as well where he’s not afraid to get dirty and bring down ball-carriers in the open field, despite his less than ideal frame. That may be his only slight, his average build. I hope to see Fonseca closer to 165 this fall. If he’s the play-maker he is it may not matter.
Will Robinson Will Robinson 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Imhotep Charter | 2022 State PA | 5’9, 190 | RB | Imhotep Charter | 2022
Again, how? Will Robinson Will Robinson 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Imhotep Charter | 2022 State PA is in the conversation for the best running back Philadelphia has to offer. There is competition, not much of that competition can match the production he’s put out at Imhotep Charter. He shows great balance in the trenches and sifts through traffic effortlessly at times. He’s got solid bounce ability showing he can move well laterally after reaching the second level. He isn’t an elusive back per se but can make you miss with a quick lateral cut that he masks well with good eye discipline. He’s a trustworthy swing-pass catcher who’s got the ankle bend and balance to catch in stride and head north and south. I love his choice of cuts and how he sets up runs. Coaching and a ton of reps have proved to work well for Robinson. He’s a load to bring down in the open field, has a tough style of running, almost at you instead of away from you. Robinson does lack breakaway speed, which is something he could see improve by working with the track team or shedding just a few pounds. He’s a team player who picks up blitzes well too. He’s received accolades on the site for his Spring campaign. I think it’s time he saw recruitment heat up.
Dayshawn Jacobs | 5’9, 170 | ATH | Rustin | 2022
Last but not least is unranked Dayshawn Jacobs out of Rustin HS. Highly productive player who may be just as good a playmaker as Fonseca on this list. Possesses incredible stride and overall foot speed. He provides Rustin with excellent kick return ability. He’s utilized as much as possible which makes sense seeing his overt athletic ability. He’s slippery in open space and tough to wrap up once he hits his second gear. Jacobs’ got a nose for the endzone. At running back, Jacobs has the breakaway speed scouts love to see, a serious 3rd and 4th gear. He achieves serious displacement when cutting. He isn’t a one-trick pony. When he isn’t blazing past defenders, Jacobs still wants to make his presence known. He is seen finishing tough runs, putting his head down, and falling forward against smaller defenders. Just another prospect that I believe should hold an FCS or low-level FBS offer at this time. Another prominent season at Rustin may do the trick.
