South Pointe has always been a hotbed for talent in the Rock Hill area and there’s no shortage of success. The Stallions finished the 2020 season with a 6-3 record and won the region last year, but in their losses where they were overpowered, coach DeVonte Holloman’s squad will be looking to come back stronger and take the next step in 2021.
Senior quarterback Zay McCrorey returns for the Stallion offense and is a dual-threat, who can make plays on the run or in the zone read game, which will be something for teams to think about in 2021. Senior Jordan Mcvay returns with experience and versatility with the ability to pull block and create run lanes. Junior running back Caleb Sims returns and will be a guy to watch on the Stallion offense. The trio all have offers from St. George Collegiate Academy in Charleston, S.C.
Senior cornerback and Syracuse commit [player_tooltip player_id="59487" first="Quan" last="Peterson"] will lead the Stallions on defense and it is easy to see why he’s headed to Upstate New York next year because of his ability to stick it to his receivers in one-on-one coverage. Outside linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="146375" first="Jonathan" last="Williams"] is an attacking, downhill backer who can lay the lumber and will be a guy to watch in 2021. Senior cornerback and safety DJ Barksdale, who also plays basketball, is back in the secondary and has great ball skills in staying stride for stride with the receiver. Junior offensive lineman and defensive lineman Logan Daye and junior defensive lineman AJ Miller and senior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="153268" first="Anquerrious" last="Davis"] will all be guys to keep your eye on in 2021 as well.

South Pointe will have to quickly begin to put the pieces of the 2021 season together with a tough non-region schedule highlighted by the opening contest against cross town rival Northwestern, followed by a trip across the state line to Charlotte two weeks later to take on Mallard Creek before region play begins.
