2021 Season Preview: Lake Travis

Lake Travis is always amongst the most elite teams in Central Texas, however, the Cavaliers playoff run was cut short by Round Rock last season. Despite the setback, the Cavaliers bring back an experienced team and continue to hold much of their most elite talent, including just a few mentioned here. Both junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="121941" first="Bo" last="Edmundson"] and senior [player_tooltip player_id="127949" first="Isaac" last="Norris"] lead the charge on offense, both bringing their own skillsets. They are backed up by a huge offensive lineman in junior <strong>Ben Hartman</strong> and have gained a new target in senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="60689" first="Caleb" last="Burton"], who previously played at Del Valle. Take a look at Lake Travis before the Cavaliers set on another successful season! <strong>KEY RETURNERS</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="121941" first="Bo" last="Edmundson"] (JR-QB) Edmundson is a huge return for the Cavaliers. As a sophomore last season, Edmundson threw for 1,409 yards and 17 touchdowns with just two interceptions in five games. Edmundson has already received a total of nine offers including Kentucky, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Penn State and Purdue. Judging by his tape, Edmundson has excellent accuracy and is skilled in play-action. He has a cannon of an arm and can laser the ball through tight spots including double coverage. Given the experience, he gained from last season, and the offseason, it will be fun to watch Edmundson this season. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/5370485/5f8f0d6f041dc90b2c91bc78" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> Ben Hartman (JR-OL) Hartman has incredible size and power and is essentially a walking titan on the field. He towers over his competition and his footwork is excellent, able to round the line to create blocks on running plays with speed and precision. Hartman is an excellent offensive lineman and he should help supply big plays for the Cavaliers this upcoming season. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/6298158/5fe91f7da023891b5ca7f807" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> [player_tooltip player_id="127949" first="Isaac" last="Norris"] (SR-QB) Norris rushed the most yards, with 209, besides the senior running backs on the team. He also rushed for eight touchdowns, tying the most on the team. Norris doubles as both a quarterback and wide receiver for the team and excels at both positions. He has excellent speed and a wide wingspan which helps him catch in tight coverage. He is also an excellent mobile quarterback who can throw in a congested pocket, or while on the run. Although Edmundson carries a lot of the passing stats, it is important to note that Norris carries the rushing stats and throws while on the run. Both act as an important part of the Cavaliers offense, and both are sure to be fun to watch. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/3195017/5fc2e96819b03d09c0a5d770" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> Watson Cusick (SR-LB) One of the big returns on defense for Lake Travis is Cusick, who led the team with 48 total tackles and three tackles for a loss. He also had two sacks and four quarterback hurries. Cusick is a player that likes the toughness of the sport and is not afraid to hit anyone with a big tackle. He is a great player to have at stuffing the run. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/3197712/5ff61532f569c908f018eff5" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> Max Linhoff (SR-DL) Linhoff has excellent size and power as a defensive lineman. He is excellent at causing disruption and can cause problems even if he is being double-blocked in the process. He is reminiscent of a young J.J. Watt in that regard, especially with how much offensive linemen struggle to block him in his tape.
