2021 North Dakota Team Preview: Cavalier Tornadoes
CAVALIER, ND– We kick the ball deep into NE North Dakota and look into our first 2021 North Dakota football preview with the Cavalier Tornadoes who were just a couple of plays away from winning the 9B championship at the FargoDome last November against Linton/Hazelton/Moffit/Braddock.
We caught up with Head Coach Mitch Greenwood to hear more about what his Tornadoes are all about. This was a fun preview for me as there is a lot of talent in Cavalier but it’s rather untapped territory when it comes to the film on these young men. It looks to me, a lot of them are new to Hudl effective under a week ago, but that shows great promise to me with their Hudl profiles attached below, college coaches will be able to retrace their steps and see how each of these prospects look on film over the coming months. I hope you enjoy my 2021 North Dakota Team Preview on six-time state champion, the Cavalier Tornadoes!

The Prospect List
2022 Prospects
Brysen Cleem | QB/DB
Cleem returns as an All-Region Honorable Mention performer last season for the Tornadoes at Tight End. He will see a position change on offense for Cavalier from Tight End to QB1 and defensively will be the bulk of the reps for Cavalier at safety.
Trevor Hinkle | Athlete
Hinkle is a pure athlete on both sides of the ball for the Tornadoes. He logged nearly 120 tackles in his junior season and got those tackles from anywhere from defensive end to cornerback. He was certainly no slouch on offense either, logging nearly 1300 all-purpose yards as a junior. Do not be fooled this season by Hinkle’s size at 5’6 145 pounds as he’s a heck of an athlete for Cavalier. He is new to Hudl, so hopefully, we can see some clips this season!
Demetrius Aliva | DL/OL
Aliva will line up in his third season as a defensive starter for the Cavalier Tornadoes which will mostly entail play at defensive end. Aliva was a sufficient contributor last year with 76 tackles, 5 sacks and 3 fumbles recovered. On the offensive side of the ball, look for Aliva to be the man in the middle at center for Cavalier.
2023 Prospects
The Class of 2023 looks to be the most loaded for the Cavalier Tornadoes, returning two All-State performers from last season’s team.
Landon Carter | Athlete
Carter will see reps on offense in two spots at running back and wide receiver. He had over 1000 all-purpose yards as a junior to go along with 15 touchdowns to his resume. He also owned his craft on defense and special teams, with 2 interceptions, a fumble return for a touchdown, 2 punt return touchdowns, and one kickoff return for a touchdown. With that stat sheet alone, With his 5’10 175 pound frame, Carter looks to be one of the biggest dogs to watch for this Cavalier Tornadoes team on both sides of the ball.
Jacob Steele | Athlete
The second All-State Team prospect from this Class of 2023 is Jacob Steele who is another playmaker for the Tornadoes that is all over the field. Steele had over 1000 all-purpose yards as a junior to go with 9 total touchdowns as another running back & wide receiver for the Tornadoes. You thought that stat line looked solid? Look at the production on defense as Steele had 120 tackles, 5 sacks, and some great stamina being able to return a fumble 88 yards to the big house for a Tornadoes touchdown.
2024 Prospects
Zack Anderson | WR/DB
Look for Anderson to get a high amount of reps on the Tornadoes special teams unit going into this upcoming 2021 season. If there is a need for him at WR/DB, he will likely be the next man up at those spots for the Cavalier Tornadoes.
Matthew Keena | OL/DL
Keena will be a key contributor for the Tornadoes as they are in sort of a rebuild mode when it comes to both the offensive and defensive line. Look for Keena to be one of the youngest starters on this Cavalier roster at guard/tight end on offense and defensive and tackle on defense. Well put together young man at 5’11 195 pounds as just a sophomore.
Ethan Longtine | OL/DL
Longtine’s role will be similar to Anderson’s for the Cavalier Tornadoes when it comes to sufficient special teams reps. Also, a prospect 5’11 205 pound prospect you will see get a few reps on the defensive line and will be a “next man up” on the Tornadoes offensive line.
Talan Devine | WR/DB
Devine will be another member of that special team’s unit for Cavalier. He will also get a few reps at wide receiver and defensive back. Devine also holds the keys for the “next man up” as the future QB1 of the Tornadoes.
2025 Prospects
Kayden Rose | DL/ATH
Look for Rose to be one of the few freshmen that get reps on varsity at defensive line. Standing at 5’10 210 pounds, Rose is a well-put-together young prospect that will also see the field for the Tornadoes at special teams.
Logan Werner | Athlete
Werner has some extreme athleticism but does is quite undersized as just as incoming freshmen. Werner likely will see special teams reps and some more at kickoff return due to his key athleticism. Being that Werner is a good wrestler for the Tornadoes, he may see some DB reps towards the end of the season due to his great knack for tackling he brings over from the wrestling mat.
