The football season is only a few short days away. However, last week the state of Arkansas had plenty of teams taking part in scrimmages. With this week being the first week of high school football in the state of Arkansas we are going to look at some impressive performances from last week. Throughout the week we also preview some key matchups that will take place this Friday night. Football is back this week folks, enjoy!
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="93533" first="Jordan" last="Mills"]-Quarterback-Hot Springs Lakeside-2022</strong>
Mills continues to build off of the momentum he built over the summer. The Hot Springs Lakeside quarterback was extremely impressive in the scrimmage against Nashville last week. In the first half, Mills passed 378 yards and five touchdowns. The Rams quarterback is starting to click on all levels, and this has the potential to be a strong season. Hot Springs Lakeside will open the season this Friday night against the Lake Hamilton Wolves in what should be an excellent opening to the season.

<strong> </strong>Greenbrier quarterback Cooper Willcox is another quarterback in the 2022 class that had an impressive summer. The Greenbrier quarterback has kept that momentum going to start the season. Last week, Wilcox threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Wilcox was not done there though; he also punched the ball in the end zone on the ground. The Greenbrier Pirates will open the season on the road this Friday night against Beebe.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75066" first="Isaiah" last="Sategna"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022</strong>
The future Oregon Duck was clicking on all cylinders last week. Fayetteville scrimmaged a quality opponent in the Greenwood Bulldogs and both teams were impressive. Sategna was on the receiving end of five [player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"] passes for 122 yards last week. The Fayetteville Bulldogs will play host to the Conway Wampus Cats this Friday night in what should be a great matchup.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="106759" first="Isiah" last="Kendall"]-Wide Receiver-Newport-2023</strong>
<strong> </strong>[player_tooltip player_id="106759" first="Isiah" last="Kendall"] is a 2023 wide receiver to keep an eye on this season. The Newport Greyhound built off an impressive summer last week in the scrimmage against Helena. Kendall has proven over the past few months he is not just a target in the red zone he is also a deep threat. Kendall’s 6-5 frame gave Helena fits in the scrimmage, and he will look to continue to build the momentum he has built over the past few months this Friday against Prescott. The Prescott-Newport matchup has the potential to be the best game in the state of Arkansas this Friday night.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="104937" first="Max" last="Meredith"]-Quarterback-Greenland-2023</strong>
The Greenland Pirates had an impressive season in 2020 and are looking to continue that trend into the 2021 season. [player_tooltip player_id="104937" first="Max" last="Meredith"] does a little bit of everything for the Pirates. Last week, in the scrimmage the Pirates signal caller passed for 109 yards and two touchdowns. However, Meredith was not done there, he kicked two extra points as well as racking up three tackles for loss on the defensive side of the ball. Greenland will open up the season against Elkins on September 3<sup>rd</sup>.
