Unsigned Detroit Area OL Debating Offers

We’re looking at some OL in the Detroit area OL with offers but haven’t signed yet. We’re looking at what could be coming down the road for them if they have another big year. Shaun Shahu - Stevenson - OT - 6’6" 275 lbs Shahu is a true outside player with great size and length. He could grow into his frame some but nothing major after that. His footwork is raw and needs some help but it’s nothing a good coach cant fix. He’s great at setting the edge and keeping the QB clean. He’s a 2-star recruit with an offer from Lawrence Tech. With another good year, he can really set himself up for some good offers. He has the potential, he just needs to find the right fit. [player_tooltip player_id="30163" first="Devin" last="Runnels"] - Mount Morris - OT - 6’6" 330 lbs Runnels is fun and interesting. He’s a huge man and the best part is he’s pretty nimble for his size. If he slims up some and puts some muscle on his natural frame could be something special. He’s listed as a 2-star recruit but Michigan State believes they’ve found themselves a hidden gem. He’s got a full-ride offer from the Spartans and then nothing after that. He very well could end up in Michigan State, but if they’ve found him it’s very possible some other big programs could come knocking. Jacob Merritt - Northville - OT - 6’6" 270 lbs Merrit is a very similar build to Shahu. He could grow into his frame and do some shaping with it but it’s not going to need an entire overhaul. He’s lengthy and very physical at the point of attack. He’s better in the running game because he always gets the leverage with how long he is. He’s listed as a 2-star recruit with offers from Lawrence Tech, Northern Michigan, Marshall, and Grand Valley. [player_tooltip player_id="99366" first="Andy" last="Hartman"] - Grand Blanc Community - OT - 6’6" 255 lbs Hartman is another long tackle in the area. He stands at 6’6" but he’s actually pretty slender. He could play guard and move inside if he really wanted to. He’s a natural athlete and could play any spot on the line with the right coaching. He’s a 2-star recruit with offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, and Michigan State. He’s taking his time with his decision and I wouldn’t expect one until after the season. [player_tooltip player_id="80495" first="Breon" last="Key"] - Harper Woods - IOL - 6’4" 290 lbs Key is the only Guard on this list but he could play Tackle if he wanted. He’s a good athlete with the ability and football IQ to play anywhere on the line. His footwork is raw and he could really use some coaching up. It’s hard to control your body sometimes with that much power and control. He’s listed as a 2-star QB with offers from Fairmont State, Grand Valley State, and Northwood. He’s likely looking to do D1, and with his tools, he could easily do so. With a good senior year the right offer will come.
