Prospects were finally able to take visits in the month of June and many in the 2022 class decided to take their official visits this month so they can get the process over with and make their commitments before summer practices start. That way they can put their recruitment away and focus on their final season of high school ball.
Here are a few prospects who made their big college commitments this week…
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Walton | 2022 State GA – Walton
One of the top defensive back prospects in all of North Georgia, the Walton star from Cobb County has always been high on academics, and this week he committed to a program that excells both on the field, and in the academic realm.
That would be the University of North Carolina.
Allen chose to play for Mack Brown and the Tar Heels over programs including Georgia Tech, Auburn, Boston College, South Carolina, Cincinnati, among others.
The long, athletic defensive back has goos size at 6-foot-2 165-pounds and knows how to separate the ball from the receiver. His length and quick footwork allow him to stay in control and play against bigger receivers, and he more than held his own against some pass-happy offenses during the 2020 season. He’s also shown that he can bring a physical presence and is a sure tackler for a cornerback. Allen made 53 tackles last year, intercepted two passes, and broke up 7 more on his way to a very successful junior season. He was outstanding against a strong Brookwood offense last year and proved that he was one of the more physical cover corners in the state.
It’s safe to say the Tar Heels are getting an excellent defensive back who could make an early impact in Chapel Hill down the road.

Ashton Daniels – Stanford
It’s one of the most prestigious programs in the entire country. Both athletically and academically, it doesn’t get much better than Stanford. The major California program doesn’t offer many prospects, so when they extend an offer, it’s a BIG deal. The Cardinal love to come steal prospects from the peach state, and they’ve done it again as they’ve landed their future QB in Buford star Ashton Daniels.
The state-champion QB chose Stanford over offers from Bowling Green, App State, and North Dakota State. He’s a poised, strong-armed QB who continues to improve as a passer. Look for him to have another big year for the Wolves in 2021 and push for a consecutive state championship. He’s a dynamic, play-making QB with a live arm, and he has no problem making big throws under pressure. Stanford liked what the saw from Daniels in 2020, and he’s only going to get better as he enters his senior season.
