Top QB’s in The 2023 Class

The 2023 rankings has a talented group of QB’s around the state that continued to to prove that they are some of the best in Washington. I broke down the film on some of the top QB’s in Washington and was highly impressed with the maturity and raw talent of each QB in this group. He shows solid poise when sitting in the pocket, and delivers with a smooth release with good accuracy on all 3 levels of throws. He possesses a good self clock to evade pressure and extend plays, oftentimes manipulating opponents to deliver a throw or pick up solid chunks of yards on his feet during busted plays. He possesses a good football IQ to sniff out coverages and identify the soft spot in various zone defenses. He processes the game quicker than most  2023’s to make quick and accurate reads and get the ball out on time. He’s flashed the arm strength to fit throws into tight windows and hit intermediate routes as well. On the ground, he shows a nice initial burst with solid top end speed with big play ability when he takes off. He’s a talented all-around athlete with the ability to pick apart defenses through the air or burn them with his legs. As a passer, he shows an excellent demeanor and poise in the pocket and delivers with an effortless release. He utilizes both velocity and touch with a good trajectory on deep balls to give his receivers a shot to make a play. He’s a two year starter for Auburn-Mountainview and continues to take leaps in maturity each year. He is poised in the pocket and delivers with a smooth release with flexibility in his upper half. He can clean up his footwork a bit, but has shown the ability to deliver impressive off-platform throws or extend plays with his feet. Accurate deep ball passer with good touch, and should continue to mature and have a strong junior campaign. &nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id="87427" first="Gabe" last="Downing"], <strong>6’0" 180lbs, Olympia </strong> <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FFaUM">*Sophomore Film</a> Downing impressed during his short 5 game sophomore season as he still managed to throw for 1,421 yards and 11 TD’s. His first play on film will "wow" you, as he showcases his escape artist ability. He possesses a raw arm talent with the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws with velocity. He delivers with a fluid motion and quick release. Downing does a good job anticipating developing routes and frequently delivers darts on the money. He’s flashed the ability to use touch on deeper routes, and will be a fun QB to watch in 2021 given a full season. &nbsp;
