There have been some big names that committed after the spring season that are going to make an impact at the next level for their respected programs. Here are some of the Top Recruits that have committed and are going to be names to know at the next level.
Ohio State University [player_tooltip player_id="155283" first="Kaleb" last="Brown"] St Rita Twitter Starting off we have Mr. Brown from St Rita, so what did Ohio State University get from this young man committing to their program? They got a playmaking athlete that can line up in the backfield at the running back position changing gears quickly to blow by the second level of defenders. He also lines up at wideout where he’s quick off the line of scrimmage, makes contested catches by high pointing the ball, and gets upfield after securing the catch. His whole spring season highlight tape is filled with big plays that showcase his dominant playstyle which included his elusiveness, shiftiness, and route running skillsets. What I like most about this young man is that he’s an all around athlete that gets it done for his team, when they need a big play he’s the guy they go to. Keeping on that trend, his route running abilities are second to none as he runs crisp routes breaking the defender off at the top of the route creating separation from the defender and is able to get his feet down inbounds for touch catches with his toe tap. University of Michigan [player_tooltip player_id="20878" first="Tyler" last="Morris"] Nazareth Academy Twitter Next up we have Mr. Morris from Nazareth Academy, he’s committed to the University of Michigan where he joins his former QB JJ McCarthy. This is a big-time pickup for the Wolverines as this young man is not only a 4-star athlete, he’s also an Addidas All-America and there’s no doubt why if you’ve ever gotten to see him in action. His route running is precise where he breaks the defender off at the top of the route creating separation from the defender, works back towards the ball not allowing the defender to undercut the route, and uses his toe tap for sideline as well as back-endzone grabs. That’s not all this young man can do, he’s quick off the line of scrimmage where he can beat the press by swatting hands down giving him a step to stack the defender and once he does so the defender plays right into his hands as he’s able to snap the route of quickly or burn you deep. He’s a playmaking wideout that isn’t afraid to go up and get it over the defender or make the catch in traffic, I look forward to seeing what he can do at Michigan as well as what he accomplishes moving forward. University of Iowa [player_tooltip player_id="110715" first="Jacob" last="Bostick"] Palatine Twitter Here is the talented Mr. Bostick from Palatine, he really took the downtime from the delayed season seriously as he honed his craft and developed himself further which showed during the spring season where he was a sight to see. He is one heck of a wideout and if you got to see him in action you’d understand why. His ability to take hits and hold onto the ball is par to none as he isn’t afraid to go up for the ball extending himself to secure the catch as he takes shots to the body on his way down. His route running is superb as he stacks the defender and breaks him off at the top of his route creating separation for an easy completion. He runs such fluid routes, keeps good pad levels which allows him to snap his routes off quickly, and can go up to get it making those contested catches over the defender. This young man is going to be a sight to see at The University of Iowa, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Bostick ends up being a three-year starter for the Hawks once it’s all said and done. Northern Illinois University [player_tooltip player_id="65791" first="Dane" last="Pardridge"] Marmion Academy Twitter We have Mr. Pardridge next on deck from Marmion Academy, I had the pleasure of viewing his game this past spring season when they played Naperville Central and he balled out. His ability to make big plays for his team when they needed it most was eye-opening and what I liked most was how quickly he got upfield after he secured the catch. He isn’t afraid to run routes over the middle of the defense and make the catch in traffic, as he does this he also has the ability to shake off a defender or two with his elusiveness to get extra yards after the catch. This young man is quick off the line of scrimmage, can make contested catches over the defender by high pointing the ball, and breaks the defender off at the top of his routes creating enough separation to secure the catch. Mr. Pardridge will be joining a dominant 21’ WR class consisting of IL standouts [player_tooltip player_id="20263" first="Isaiah" last="Bragg"], [player_tooltip player_id="139376" first="Tyler" last="Brueckner"], and [player_tooltip player_id="20255" first="Trey" last="Urwiler"]. University of Notre Dame [player_tooltip player_id="65705" first="Jack" last="Lausch"] Brother Rice (Football & Baseball) Twitter We’re headed to Brother Rice to take a look at Mr. Lausch who has committed to The University of Notre Dame for BOTH, yes BOTH, football and baseball. His skillset on the mound is par to none and a sight to see, he’s also one heck of a QB for his team. He came to the starting QB job late in the 2019 fall season where they were in the playoffs with their then starting QB going down with an injury, since then he has been a sight to see as he has continued to hone his craft and develop himself. What I like most about this young man is how he carries himself which goes hand in hand with his poise in the game. He’s able to stay in the pocket while it’s collapsing getting the ball off to his man downfield and if that isn’t open he uses his elusiveness to evade the defender followed by a scramble for a first yard/large gain. This young man makes each level throw (1 2 & 3), has good pocket footwork which comes to light when throwing on the run, and is able to get the ball out quickly by putting zip on the ball. If you’re a young QB I would look at Mr. Lausch’s work ethic and character as one to mimic as he’s one of the best examples out there on how to do things the right way. Vanderbilt University [player_tooltip player_id="20874" first="Maurice" last="Edwards"] Warren Township Twitter Next up is Mr. Edwards from Warren Township, he’s one of the top running backs in the Class of 2022 in IL and if you’ve seen his highlight film you’d see why. He’s as explosive of a runner as they come, once he gets the ball in his hands he bursts past the 2nd level of defenders by changing his gears quickly and once he clears that 2nd level there’s no catching him. He also makes defenders miss with his juke move showcasing his elusiveness, has good change of direction where he can stop on a dime then accelerate quickly, and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder to play through contact. This young man is a sight to see and I expect him to make an immediate impact on the next level when he gets there, until then, keep an eye on his senior season as he has unfinished business before his high school career comes to an end. Central Michigan University [player_tooltip player_id="65813" first="Jalen" last="Handford"] Warren Township Twitter Let’s change gears to the defensive side of the ball and head over to Warren Township to look at Mr. Handford. I got the pleasure of seeing this young man in person at a camp before the spring season started where he dominated the competition, pair that with his strong spring season performance and that results in his commitment to Central Michigan University. He has the closing speed to cover sideline to sideline, fills holes in run support, and gets off blocks to make the tackle. His aggressive playstyle is one to watch as he’s not afraid to deliver the hard-hit which goes hand in hand with attacking downhill and making open-field tackles. Mr. Handford is in the same boat with [player_tooltip player_id="20874" first="Maurice" last="Edwards"] on having unfinished business to attend to in this upcoming fall season as Warren Township is going to be a team to watch. Arkansas State University [player_tooltip player_id="20928" first="Ahmad" last="Robinson"] East St Louis Twitter We're staying on the defensive side of the ball as we head to East St Louis to take a look at Mr. Robinson who committed to Arkansas State University. What I like most about this young man is his ability to mirror the receiver as the receiver works to set up the route, the reason why this is important has to do with how Mr. Robinson stays in the receiver's hip pocket which sets him up to capitalize on the play resulting in interceptions as well as PBUs. He is technically sound which allows him to press on the receiver and not get beat on the fly route. With his technique, he has fluid flip of the hips allowing him to not get broken off at the top of the route and retaining his explosiveness out of the break to make a play on the ball. Arkansas State got a steal with this young man as, in my eyes, is one of the top DBs in the state and I look forward to seeing how he does this fall. Ball State University [player_tooltip player_id="165457" first="Cameron" last="Pickett"] Brooks Twitter [player_tooltip player_id="20859" first="Kaden" last="Cobb"] Fenwick Twitter Ball State University picked up two of the top players in Ilinois who are going to make an immediate impact for this program. With that being said let's take a look at what Mr. Pickett and Mr. Cobb have to offer Ball State University. Starting off with Mr. Pickett, his ability to get a step on the defender right away is a sight to see as he's quick off the line of scrimmage and runs technically sound routes. He explodes out of the top of his route not allowing the defender to undercut the route to make a play and is an overall playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. Switching gears to Mr. Cobb, he's able to get the ball off quickly when running RPOs and puts the ball in the receiver's basket whether his feet are set in the pocket or if he's throwing on the run. This young man can also make cross-body throws on the run when evading pocket pressure and makes throws in tight windows. This duo is going to cause major problems at the next level for opposing defenses and I look forward to seeing the show that they put on. Western Michigan University [player_tooltip player_id="20881" first="Jashawn" last="Johnson"] Hoffman Estates Twitter [player_tooltip player_id="20930" first="Saveon" last="Brown"] Thornwood Twitter Western Michigan picked up these two young men, Mr. Johnson for an offensive weapon and Mr. Brown for a defensive weapon, that are going to impact this program for the better. So, what do these two young men have to offer in terms of their skillset and playing abilities? Let's take a quick dive into it. Starting off with Mr. Johnson, once he secures the catch he gets upfield quickly blowing by the 2nd level of defenders with his 4.47 40 speed and is able to explode out of the breaks of his routes without losing a lot of his momentum/speed. Switching over to Mr. Brown, he has the closing speed to cover sideline to sideline resulting in interceptions as well as PBUs and attacks downhill making open-field tackles. Both of these young men are going to be names to know during this full fall season and I look forward to seeing how they both produce before heading off to become teammates in college. Illinois State University [player_tooltip player_id="65763" first="Thomas" last="Hubbard"] Bartlett Twitter [player_tooltip player_id="65738" first="Max" last="Ziebarth"] Normal West Twitter Illinois State University got two commits that are both going to impact their blocking schemes for the better on the offensive side of the ball with Mr. Hubbard and Mr. Ziebarth. With that being said, let's take a look at what Illinois State University got in these two young men. Starting off with Mr. Hubbard, he's quick off the ball getting hands-on quickly and once he does so he plays through the whistle driving the defender to the ground. His aggressiveness is a sight to see as that's what you like to see out of offensive lineman. Moving over to Mr. Ziebarth, he's an all-around tight end that gets it done in the passing game as well as the run game. He has the ability to line up split out wide where he makes contested catches by high pointing the ball over the defender and can line up at tight end to make catches in traffic holding onto the ball after taking hits from the defenders. In the running attack, he's used as a lead blocker when he lines up in the pistol formation and when lined up at tight end he gets hands-on quickly washing the defensive lineman down. Both of these young men are staying In-State to continue their football careers and I look forward to seeing what the next level has in store for them.
Be sure to follow @jamaskane regarding news & information for Illinois High School Football, @PrepRedzoneIL, and @PrepRedzone.
