Let’s take a look at three prospects from around the state of South Carolina you should keep your eye on, including a 2023 defensive back and receiver who we expect to wreak havoc in the lower part of the Midlands this fall.
Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

Analysis – Myers is a tall, lanky receiver who will go up and catch the ball at the high point. You will primarily find him at the slot position and once he gets into the open field, he can really display his top speed and can break arm tackles and make people miss in space. He can also line up at defensive back and make a play if the need arises. He is an outstanding student in the classroom with a 4.1 GPA.
Offensive Tackle/Guard
Brenden Young, Ashley Ridge (2022)

Analysis – Young is an aggressive and attacking lineman who can really push people off the ball. We were really impressed with the way he uses his hands to hold off potential defensive linemen. He can also pull block well. He’s an outstanding student in the classroom with a 4.1 GPA.
Defensive Back/Wide Receiver
[player_tooltip player_id="124455" first="Clay" last="Pender"], Barnwell (2023)

Analysis – Pender may have some of the best hands that we’ve seen on film when it comes to his play on offense. He looks the ball into his hands and can go up and can climb the ladder to make the catch. Blocking at the point of attack is also a strength for the young man as well. You combine that with his speed in the open field and he’s dangerous. But he also makes an impact on defense, he has the height to keep up with receivers. His recovery speed is impressive, as we saw on film.
