Recruiting Weekly Recap

It was another active week of recruiting in Tennessee with several top names taking themselves off board with commitments and multiple others adding new and exciting offers.  Here we recap the biggest stories from last week's action.  Franklin Tackle is Headed to the West Coast  One of the top overall prospects in the 2022 class is finally off the board and taking his talents to the Pac 12 Conference. Franklin 4-star offensive tackle Fisher Anderson Fisher Anderson Fisher Anderson 6'7" | 275 lbs | OL Franklin | 2022 State TN made his commitment public on Sunday when he officially pledged his talents to the Stanford Cardinal. This was a huge pickup by the Pac 12 program as Anderson has all the tools and upside to become their future left tackle.  It was a long process to pull Anderson out West but it all paid off in the end for the Cardinal. The Admirals star offensive lineman choose Stanford over other finalists North Carolina, Northwestern and Virginia.  Look for Anderson to possibly enroll early and begin his career with the Cardinal next January. If he does just that, look for him to immediately compete for playing time or at least work himself into the depth chart. Anderson is well trained with high football IQ and athleticism, so he will be ready to work the moment he steps onto campus.  Parson See's Florida St. As Perfect Fit  It was an early decision but it was one Ravenwood (QB) Chris Parson Chris Parson Chris Parson 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Ravenwood | 2023 State TN knew was the right one to make. The Raptors junior signal caller took to Twitter last Wednesday to announce his college decision as he gave his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles.  Parson chose the Seminoles over several other Power Five, Division 1 programs but he decided on Florida St. more so for the constant love the staff showed him and the fit within their offense. His skill set works well with the Noles offense as a guy with dynamic athleticism and a cannon right arm. Parson has solid mechanics as well, so while he has the dual threat abilities, he is just as strong as a passer.  The Seminoles coaching staff pursued Parson hard and made sure he knew that he was their top target at quarterback and eventually won out. It will be a long time before the Raptors signal caller signs with the Noles, so the staff must continue to recruit him but Parson appears sold on Florida St. and ready to take his talents to the ACC.  Talented #MidTN QB Chooses Baseball  A business decision was made last week by CPA (QB) Cade Law Cade Law 6'1" | 210 lbs | QB CPA | 2022 State TN as he decided to take his talents down the road of baseball as he gave his commitment to Vanderbilt University.  Considered one of the top quarterbacks in the Mid-State area and one of the best overall athletes in the state, Law is a two sport star that had to eventually make a decision and while football would have been a strong path to follow, he made the right decision by choosing baseball.  Law has all the talent and upside to eventually become the starting catcher for one of the best baseball programs in the country and develop himself to be drafted down the road. The Lions star quarterback could be given a sniff by Coach Lea and the football staff by asking Law if he wants to play football as well. The two sports don't cross paths during the year, so it's possible but I would expect Law to move away from football and put all his focus into baseball.  It will be tough to not see Law on the gridiron throwing the ball on the next level but he has a very bright future with baseball and the VandyBoys, so he made the correct decision.  Paladins Add Underrated Maryville Quarterback  Furman pulled in one of the more underrated talents in-state for the 2022 class and he will be looking to take his Maryville team to a 6A state title game this season. Senior quarterback Carson Jones Carson Jones 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Maryville | 2022 State TN committed last week to the Paladins, giving the SoCon team a quarterback to develop and grow around over the next coming seasons.  A big guy with dual threat abilities, Jones is a poised competitor behind center that has the upside to become the Furman starting quarterback sooner than later. He loves competing and is a proven winner on the high school level. Jones brings a lot of variables to the quarterback position but also to the team and locker room as well.  Look for Jones to be a big recruiter for the Paladins 2022 class and even start trying to pull in some fellow Tennesseans to join him at Furman.  Next Man Up (Rising Underclassmen) Here each week we will spotlight a rising underclassmen to watch and follow through their recruiting life. The first guy to mention is 2024 Lausanne (TN) offensive lineman Luke Work Luke Work Luke Work 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Lausanne Collegiate | 2024 State TN .  The 6'5 burly lineman jumped onto the scene this past weekend in Clarksville at the Austin Peay Prospect Camp where he displayed tremendous abilities and upside along with strong football IQ. His performance in front of the Govs staff earned him an offer by the end of camp and officially kick started his college recruitment.  Work is a big man that is still growing. He has a nice frame to develop and place more weight along with quick, active feet and the ability to play multiple positions. The Lynx sophomore lineman has the look of a college right tackle but could swing inside to play guard at any moment.  The future looks bright for Work as he has the size and tools to be recruited by high quality college football programs. He looks and plays like a Power Five, D1 talent but must continue to work and develop his game if he hopes to play on that level. The Austin Peay offer is a great start for Work but expect many others, including big schools to come after this West Tennessee product very soon.
