Prep Redzone looks at a few players that we think you should monitor in the Big Central’s 2A and 2B Divisions this upcoming season.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">2A DIVISION</span></strong>
<strong>METUCHEN</strong>
<strong>AJ Perillo/OLB/2022</strong>
Perillo caught 20 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown and made 24 total tackles last season.His upside will be on the defensive side of the football.
<strong>Aidan Holloway/</strong>MLB/2022
Holloway made 27 total tackles last season. He also plays offensive center for his team on offense. He’s most effective in short-yardage situations from the middle linebacker position.
<strong>MIDDLESEX</strong>
<strong>Bobby Ulmer/LB/2022</strong>
Ulmer made 47 total tackles last season (eight for a loss). He also plays offensive center for his team on offense. Ulmer is most effective in short-yardage situations from the middle linebacker position.
<strong>Stephen Young/QB/2022</strong>
Young completed little passes (five completions for 120 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception) last season. However, he rushed 60 times for 461 yards and nine touchdowns. Young led his team in rushing.
<strong>NORTH PLAINFIELD</strong>
<strong>Jordan Bird/LB/2022</strong>
Bird made 50 total tackles, sacked the quarterback six times, and forced and recovered a fumble last season.
<strong>Keiahn Grenald/DB/2022</strong>
Grenald made 31 tackles and intercepted two passes last season. He also completed 45-of-98 passes for 915 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions on the offensive side of the football.
<strong>Khan-Yae Stevens/WR/2022</strong>
Stevens caught 21 passes for 481 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
<strong>SOUTH RIVER</strong>
<strong>Jeffrey Ferriera/LB/2022</strong>
Ferriera made 28 tackles and caught two interceptions during the 2020 season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28026" first="Marcus" last="Granadeiro"]/LB/2022</strong>
They credit Granadeiro with 75 total tackles from the 2022 season.
<strong>Ryan Kurtz/QB/2022</strong>
Kurtz completed 63-of-125 passes for 970 yards, 12 touchdowns and interceptions. He will need to work on cutting down on his turnovers.
<strong>ST. THOMAS AQUINAS</strong>
<strong>Jayden Young/QB/2023</strong>
Young completed 90-of-180 passes for 1,487 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions last season.

Wyatt caught 24 passes for 593 yards and eight touchdowns during his junior year season.
<strong>2B DIVISION</strong>
<strong>BERNARDS</strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28027" first="Mike" last="Leanza"]/RB/2022</strong>
Leanza led the rushing attack with 103 carries for 638 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He’s at his best when he’s able to get north-south running the football.
<strong>HILLSIDE</strong>
<strong>Caleb Salters/QB/2023</strong>
Salters completed 62-of-93 passes for 1,153 yards, 13 touchdowns and three interceptions last season. He added 10 carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns on the ground too.
<strong>Kayvion Kennedy/LB/2022</strong>
Kennedy made 34 total tackles and sacked the quarterback three times during the 2020 season.
<strong>Matt Ihemesie/</strong>OL/2022
<strong>GOVERNOR LIVINGSTON</strong>
<strong>Connor Tracy/QB/2022</strong>
Tracey completed 28-of-63 passes for 418 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions.
<strong>Frank DiMuzio/DL/2022</strong>
DiMuzio made 13 tackles, forced one fumble, and registered one sack last season.
<strong>Joe Riggi/DB/2022</strong>
Riggi made 37 total tackles and forced two fumbles last season.
