As my first rankings update is in the books, I certainly learned a lot about the talent across the state of Michigan. It is impossible to fit everybody on the top 195, but I tried my best to include any players I have knowledge of. There’s so much potential in the class of 2022 and it should be a talent filled season in 2021. With that being said, here are some notes on the July version of the 2022 rankings:

[player_tooltip player_id="80918" first="William" last="Johnson"] is by far the best player in Michigan. His length and athleticism at the cornerback position will be loved by all in Ann Arbor when he attends Michigan next year.

[player_tooltip player_id="30148" first="Lynn" last="Wyche-El"] is such an explosive weapon for Detroit King’s offense. He can beat you vertically or in the middle of the field. With so much attention on pass oriented college offenses, Wyche-El will be coveted as a recruit and should find a home at the next level soon. He takes a big 7 spot jump in the new 2022 rankings as I saw enough on film to make him one of the top 15 players. If he has a big season for King, his recruiting attention should blow up.

Loyola quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="30231" first="Anthony" last="Garrett"] caught my eye on film. He’s an athletic quarterback that has poise in the pocket and a clean release. Look out for him to have a huge season for the Bulldogs.

A new addition to the rankings is [player_tooltip player_id="160570" first="Myles" last="Rowser"], a physical safety who has offers from schools such as Arkansas, Michigan, and Alabama. He’s currently committed to Arkansas and should be a top ten player in Michigan for the 2021 season.

The Technician’s [player_tooltip player_id="30166" first="Karriem" last="Sharrieff"]’s film is so impressive that I had to rewatch a few times. He’s dynamic with his cuts and will find even the smallest hole to power through. Cass Tech has one of the best running backs in the state with Sharrieff and he should have a huge 2021 season behind that powerful offensive line that includes [player_tooltip player_id="30286" first="Deone" last="Walker"] and [player_tooltip player_id="30143" first="Jackson" last="Pruitt"], two other names that took big jumps in the rankings.

If you have read my past work on here, then you know I’m extremely high on Dakota offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="30179" first="Cooper" last="Phillips"]. He is one of the most underrated players in the state and will be a key reason Dakota has success on the ground this coming season.

Warren De La Salle’s [player_tooltip player_id="30205" first="Will" last="Beesley"] jumped 6 spots in the rankings due to his explosive plays at the linebacker position. The Princeton commit is smart, physical, and has amazing instincts at the second level. He should be a top 50 player in the state by the time next season has finished.

I’ve been intrigued by Fordson lineman [player_tooltip player_id="30197" first="Fayez" last="Al-Ziyadi"]. Recent footage of him doing 545 pound squats caught my eye so I decided to jump back into his film. What I saw was a physical and nasty offensive lineman with a ton of room to explode during the 2021 season. He’s certainly a name to keep an eye on as he will continue to attract college attention after a great start to his camp cycle.

The next wave of talent in the 2022 class is intriguing and it should be fun to scout them as we get ready for the Fall 2021 season.
