Prep Redzone looks at a few players that we think you should monitor in the Montgomery County this upcoming season. These teams saw their 2020 season wiped out because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We gathered as much information as possible on returning 2022, 2023 and 2024 players. Some teams had little for me to go on but that may change towards the start of this season.
<strong>BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE</strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="174614" first="Tristan" last="Donaldson"]/5-7/140/DB/2022
Donaldson plays much bigger than his size. He’s not shy about getting physical in the run game and is a sure tackle. Donaldson is also a valuable asset in the return game.

From a recruiting standpoint, he is the undisputed top Class of 2022 wide receiver prospect in the state of Maryland. His offer list of 20-plus schools includes South Carolina, Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Duke, Penn State, Maryland, Liberty, and Vanderbilt. Kikwata and his high school teammates only played one game during the spring.

<strong>PAINT BRANCH</strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="90593" first="Octavian" last="Smith"] Jr./6-1/170/QB/2022
Smith threw for 1,506 yards and score 22 touchdowns during his sophomore season. He is a true dual-threat quarterback and that makes him a dangerous weapon on offense. We’re looking forward to seeing him and his teammates on the field this upcoming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="174615" first="Samuel" last="Korpoi"]/6-1/190/LB/2022
Koproi plays physical and is a solid open-field tackler. He’s a sideline-to-sideline guy who is able to cover 1v1 in the passing game against tight ends and running backs.

Sannieniola’s 10-plus offers include Maryland, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Boston College, Buffalo, Duke, and East Carolina. Despite only playing two games this season, you get a good idea of how good Sannieniola against the run. We should get more of an idea about his pass-coverage skills once he plays several games this upcoming season.

Tidiane Epps/5-9/155/WR/2022
Epps makes several big catches down the sideline on his highlights. He does a great job of keeping his concentration while jumping up to snatch 50/50 balls from defenders.

Frye is a defensive end who did not get to play his junior year season due to it being cancelled because of COVID-19 concerns. His sophomore year film shows that he has active hands and that he’s most dangerous when he’s coming off the edge. I like the way Frye quickly Frye takes on blockes and sheds them in order to make a tackle. Hopefully for Frye, he’ll be able to make up missing his junior year by having a superb senior season.
