In fact, it was one of the tougher seasons you could imagine for them as they competed in the middle of the pandemic. By the end of the year, they finished with a 3-6 record, with 2 of their wins being in their region. All in all they, were 2-1 in their region, with their 1 regional loss being to Rabun County. This also happened to be the Blue Devils worst loss of the season, as they fell to Rabun County 63-7. Regardless, due to the fact that their regional wins outweighed their losses, they found themselves in the playoffs. Here, their season came to an end against Bremen, as they lost 28-21. Next season, we expect much better out of this team, and with the help of their top returners who are listed below, we think they’ll be able to put up a better overall record.
Christian Harris Christian Harris 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Elbert County | 2023 State GA – WR
Harris is without a doubt one of the top returners for the Blue Devils, and it can be seen in the way that he plays with a sense of urgency. With this being said, Harris catches the ball well and gains good yards after the catch, using his balance to deflect contact, pick up good yards, and fight for any distance that he can. When running routes, he does a good job of stacking defenders, separating with his quick feet, and getting out of his breaks cleanly. With this, he is great at catching the ball in double coverage, as well as using his length to box out defenders. This helps him to come down with the ball in contested situations, and to be able to catch the ball over his shoulders in seemingly out of reach situations. Harris also does a great job of catching with great concentration, which can be seen in the way he catches balls along the sideline, making for toe dragging grabs. Next season, due to his high level of potential, we think Harris will continue to be a big time player for the Blue Devils, and may also see some offers in the process.
Bryson Dickerson- TE
Even though Dickerson may move a bit bulky and stiff at times, we love the way that he uses his size to his advantage. Currently, he stands at 6’3, 225 pounds, and he uses all of this to his advantage. He not only bullies opposing defenders with his strength at times, but he is able to gain separation much easier because of his size as well. With this, Dickerson has a little bit of a burst to his movement, helping him to be able to put himself in good position to make receptions, or pick up yards. Along with this, he is also very effective as a blocker. When blocking, he does a solid job of using his feet, and finishing plays upright, with his hands, and long arms. Next year, if he can work on his overall fluidity and speed, we think that he can be a breakout player for the Blue Devils.
Quartrez White- DB
One of the traits we like most about White when he plays the Safety position is the way that he uses his ball skills to help create turnovers, or pass break ups. In doing so, he is able to make big stops for his team, and help them to be in better defensive position at times as well. Additionally, White also plays with decent bend, movement skills, and fluidity. This allows him to be able to transition well out of his breaks, and stay in the hip pocket of receivers when matched up with them in man coverage. We also like the way that White uses his length to his advantage, making it harder for receivers to get open, or gain separation. His physicality can also be seen to be a weapon for him, as he has no problem putting his hands on opposing players, or coming downhill to make tackles. When doing so, he takes good angles, breaks down well, and uses his leverage effectively.
