COUNTDOWN TO ‘21: Navarre Ready To Roll
After a 6-1 season in 2020 – during a pandemic year – there are very few who wouldn't have taken what head coach <strong>Jay Walls</strong> and his Navarre Raiders did.
In fact, wins over Pace, Gulf Breeze, Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee, Andalusia, Alabama, Enterprise, Alabama and Crestview in the regular season, set the tone for the playoffs.
Even though the Raiders would lose Gainesville Buchholz in the state playoffs, the tone was set for the off-season – with the returning seniors and underclassmen using that 35-21 setback as motivation, and it has worked.
Navarre players and coaches have embraced the off-season – with the knowledge that the talent is in place for another solid playoff run in 2021.
Among those seniors who are expected to step up include <strong>Kyle Chambers</strong> (QB, 5-10, 160), <strong>Davion Hardy</strong> (WR/TE, 6-2, 190), <strong>Caden Howard</strong> (WR, 6-1, 180) and versatile <strong>Sebastian Melendez</strong> (LB/RB, 6-0, 190).
The Raiders also have <strong>Derek Percivalle</strong> (CB, 5-9, 185), <strong>Lemmy Wilson</strong> (DL, 6-2, 250) and gifted <strong>Devin Wright</strong> (TE/LB, 6-1, 220).
<strong>UNDERCLASS HELP IS HERE</strong>
With a solid and veteran senior class, the Raiders also have some gifted underclassmen – such as 2023 standouts <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128552" first="Caleb" last="Akers"]</strong> (OL, 6-3, 250), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128697" first="Christian" last="Caballero"]</strong> (LB/RB, 6-2, 200), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128604" first="Ethan" last="Newman"]</strong> (OL, 6-3, 265) and outside linebacker <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="128415" first="Ameer" last="Rustom"]</strong> (OLB, 5-9, 160).
The Raiders also have help with Class of 2024 twins <strong>Terence Marshall </strong>(WR, 6-1, 180) and <strong>Tyrell Marshall</strong> (WR, 5-11, 175).
