Offensive Spotlight
Isaac Yates Isaac Yates 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Shadow Ridge | 2022 State AZ , WR, 6’1″ 170lbs, Shadow Ridge ’22
Yates is an underrated WR out of the West valley and should start to draw some FCS level attention. He comes off a productive 2020 season as he hauled in 37 receptions for 752 yards and 11 TD’s in 9 games played. Against man-coverage, he manipulates CB’s at the LOS to frequently generate a clean release. He’s a fluid route runner with loose hips and uses active feet to get in and out of his routes, yet can also explode out of a single cut. Yates possesses solid top end speed and can take the top off a defense, as he was a lethal deep threat all throughout the 2020 season. He does a great job setting up his routes and is explosive at the top of his route. Yates tracks the ball well and possesses soft hands and has flashed the ability to win those contested catches. My favorite play on his film is around the 1:48 mark, proving he’ll get creative in ways to beat man to man coverage and come down with it if it’s thrown in his vicinity. Yates was awarded “6A 2nd Team All-State” and “1st Team All-Region” and currently holds one offer from Southwest Minnesota State.

Defensive Spotlight
Jarred Marquez Jarred Marquez 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Yuma Catholic | 2023 State AZ , LB, 6’2″ 205lbs, Yuma Catholic ’23
Marquez is a promising young prospect from Yuma Catholic, and projects to dominate on the defensive side of the ball in 3A football. He had a strong sophomore season as he racked up 83 tackles and earned himself “1st Team All-Region LB”. He sizes up with an athletic frame and build at 6’2″ 205lbs and plays with a high intensity demeanor. He shows solid play recognition and processes the game quicker than most 3A LB’s in his class. He closes well as a tackler and flies in with a low POC and has shown glimpses of strength at the POA, which he should look to capitalize on going into his junior season. He does a great job shedding blocks to blow up plays on the edges at or behind the LOS, and has shown the ability to use leverage when engaged with opponents to generate enough separation to be able to shed/disengage easily. Marquez looks to be developing into a well rounded OLB, and should continue to have a highly productive high school career.
