But this year it will have a different twist.
Until the Covid-19 pandemic turned everything upside down, Highland High School hosted a dozen or more schools for four weeks in June for the Albuquerque Passing League (APL).
But as we emerge from 16 months in hibernation, things are different. Rather than the APL being played at one location, we now have seven.
Most of the 6A schools in the Albuquerque Metro region and one Class 5A school (Los Lunas) have joined forces for a three-week passing league at six different locations: Cibola, Cleveland, La Cueva, Rio Rancho, Volcano Vista and West Mesa.
Meanwhile, seven teams will compete at Highland two nights per week: Albuquerque Academy, Bernalillo, Highland, Hope Christian, Pojoaque Valley, St. Pius X and Valley.
Play begins Wednesday night, and continues through July 22.
Preseason camps are scheduled to begin Aug. 2. Week 1 of the 2021 regular season is Aug. 19-21.
